MAGGIE ROCKS A CADAVER

Maggie Gyllenhaal supports many notable causes, including climate change organizations, organic cloth diapers, charities, and other worthy initiatives.

She even recently hosted Fashionably Natural, an eco-friendly catwalk show during L.A. Spring ‘09 Fahion Week, where she boasted about fabrics made of bamboo and soy bean.

So it comes as a bit of a surprise that Maggie rocked a seemingly still-alive fur stole from Louis Vuitton last night at the MoMa Film Benefit Gala honouring Baz Luhrmann in New York City.

At Fashionably Natural, the actress scoffed: “I think synthetic clothes just don’t feel as good. I think do what you can do. If you have the opportunity or you have the luxury to be able to choose to buy a organic cotton t-shirt instead of a regular one, do it.”

In Maggie’s defense, the poor little critter that was systematically hunted, slaughtered, skinned and turned into luxury fashion for the rich and famous was likely organic.

Overrated ???? I don’t think so—IMHO she is an excellent actress and has done great work in several films including Sherry Baby and The Secretary. She is an unusual looking woman who you don’t forget once you have seen her on screen. As for being a fashion icon—not so much.

#6 MikeC, I agree with everything you said. Her face reminds me so much of the 20’s and 30’s actors for some reason, the eyes specifcally. Maybe it’s the make up, I loved Angelina in the Changeling, but I think Maggie would have rocked it on physicality alone. Fashio? She cannot dress at all, but I actually kinda like her outfit even if I’m not a fur girl.

I think she is an overrated and terrible actress too. Watching her in the Dark Knight was so painful. I was begging for Katie Holmes back.

Oh, Maggie. “You do what you can do”? It’s a luxury itself, not a necessity. Especially considering it’s an item she’ll probably wear only once, it’s ridiculous. Awful, disgusting, and I expected better from her.

There is something about Maggie G. Her voice is hypnotic & her whole persona is effortless. She has substance. She is sexy.
