The New York City-based aritist is best known for her images of a variety of historical figures and celebrities, from Napoleon and Kurt Cobain.
The work — titled Michelle and Sasha Obama Listening to Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention — shows the 7-year-old resting on her mom’s lap as Michelle listens intently to her hubby accepting the Democratic nomination at August’s convention in Denver.
The image also appears in this month’s W magazine.

I think it is a beautiful painting of a beautiful moment in a beautiful families life!!!
It must have been painted by a republican because it sure has a sour look on Michelle’s face.
I love it. It really captures the moment. I feel sorry for his other little girl though…she isn’t in it
I’m thrilled that she’s finally proud of this country. Maybe others who have until now held only disdain for their country will follow her example. It’s unfortunate it took electing her husband to be president for her to realize the greatness of this country, but better late than never.
beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t care for the style of the painting. It’s just “ok.”
Looks like the artist made her slimmer. Though he accurately depicted those strange protrusions around her mouth.
GROSS!!!
Abby…what is so “GROSS” about it?
LORD.
IT SURE SHOWS HOW UGLY THAT WOMAN IS.
FUGLY ALL THE WAY.
WOW!! The artist captured her angry look perfectly.
I don’t like it either. She does look angry and the child looks sad, like they are at a funeral for a slain loved one, not the most important night of their lives so far. If you had never seen these people before, what would your impression of the painting be? Really?
I think the artist made her better looking than she actually is, but I’m with #2 she looks like an angry black women instead of an adoring wife supporting her husband during what should be one of the most exciting times of their lives.. It may reflect the artist TRUE feelings about the Obama family. lol
