BARACK HAS BASICALLY CLINCHED IT

So here’s where the presidential election stands.

Democratic Barack Obama needs to collect 63 more Electoral College votes take the presidency. Republican John McCain needs 129.

Considering that California and its 55 electoral votes have a long history of going Democratic, that leaves only 8 more electoral votes that he needs before he takes the White House.

Washington, Oregon, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia are up for grabs. Their numbers will be in starting 11 p.m. EST.

Worldwide celebration will commence shortly thereafter.

This is great!! I think we all had a feeling that it would turn out this way and Barack is so deserving of this in my opinion. My boyfriend and I are being such nerds tonight…snuggled up on the sofa watching the coverage haha but its the first time I’ve really felt excited about the presidency, it’s a good feeling knowing that there is change around the corner for our country.

I am afariad that the poor people and African people who expect Obama to be their saviour are in for a big surprise. Don’t think that after all the hollywood and wealthy people have supported him that he will suddenly turn on them and “soak the rich” as you put it. Obama will not make any changes.

Either Obama will have to go back on all his many promises and prove himself a liar OR he will follow through on his promise to raise taxes and drive business out of this country on an unprecedented scale bringing with it a massive jump in unemployment. I predict 10% within a year. If there’s any justice, those of you who voted for this guy should be the first to be laid off by your employer when the cut are made. Of course, many of Obama’s voters don’t work to begin with.

Careful what you wish for… we, as Americans, survived eight years of the WORST president in the history of the USA! It’s time to celebrate the end of this incompetent man. The stock market already started to rise on the possibility of an Obama presidency. I won’t pretend that the next 4 years are going to be easy but I am sure that we are, finally, under the leadership of a component man.

Careful what you wish for: You mean just like how companies actually get tax breaks to bring business overseas? Uh-huh. Yea, Bush is all about free market. Looky where most of our big companies are choosing to set up shop? Poor countries so those people can work for slave labor.

After the last disgraceful 8 years under Bush presidency which made the entire nation look like fucking fools with that IDIOT in the white house, we will regain the respect back with Obama leading us and fixing the mess that was left.

Thank God Obama is going to win. The USA could not withstand another republican administration. And the world will again respect us for electing a black man; a great black man!

4….Actually, most republicans predicted obama would win. Seriously, how could he lose with virtually the entire media operating has his propaganda department? The only question left is how damaging his “change” will be to this country. Will his policies only serve to magnify the devastating blunders of the Democratic led congress of the last two years? The same democratic congress that caused the economic meltdown. While you are selfishly chanting “soak the rich”, I’ll leave you instead with the far more intelligent words of Abraham Lincoln, one of our greatest presidents and a Republican, “Property is the fruit of labor . . . property is desirable . . . is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built.”

I don’t care what nobody says. The election is over and I’m going to say it. Obama is the messiah! Bless this man, the prophet! Bless this man, the prophet Barack Obama!

  22. November-5-2008 @ 1:18 am

17…” the world will again respect us for electing a black man; a great black man!”? Ummm, what ever happened to judging a person on the content of their character rather than the color of their skin? It shouldn’t matter that he’s half black. Race will always be in issue and divisive wedge so long as people like you continue to make it so.

  23. November-5-2008 @ 1:25 am

Hopefully the half of the country that didn’t vote for Obama will treat him better than liberals have treated Bush. The last thing we need is more of the venomous hate that we’ve seen from the left for the last 8 years. I suspect that the nation’s conservatives will resist the urge to play the payback game and choose instead to display more respect and civility.

Bush has completely broken the country, destroyed our moral standing in the world, threw us into an economic recession, increased terrorism around the world thanks to our occupation in Iraq, and has exploded the national debt. He deserves every criticism he gets.

#23 - if you expect conservatives to display respect and civility in their presidential defeat, then they’re off to a bad start. During McCain’s concession speech, he mentioned Obama and the crowed boo-ed. When Obama mentioned McCain during his speech, they applauded. Sounds like the democrats are showing more respect and civility to me.
