It wasn’t long ago that the TV veteran was the laughingstock of primetime news as she struggled to bring in ratings on CBS Evening News. But now she is being heralded as “one of the five most important people in politics not running for president,” but the New York Observer.
In a story titled A Star is Reborn, the publication says that her political interviews have been so newsmaking that her name is being tossed around as a potential candidate to fill Tim Russert’s shoes as moderator of NBC’s Meet The Press.

It’s amazing how hard they’re pushing to convince us Couric is a “star”, as if they repeat it enough it’ll actually come true. The reality is, she has horrible ratings and is nothing but a partisan shill. I guarantee you that she will take the ratings of “Meet the Press” into the gutter—an appropriate place for her brand of “journalism”. Any bets?

Tim Russert must be spinning in his grave at the idea of Katie taking over Meet the Press. There are too many good people already at NBC for them to be looking outside for that job.
