HAYDEN ROCKS THE VOTE

With a cup of java in tow, a low-key Hayden Panettiere exercised her right to vote at the West Hollywood voting station today.

The Heroes hottie recently came out saying that in terms of the youth vote, celebrities have made a difference.

“One of the major reasons why, especially young people, have come out and done so much to play a part in this election … is because of the celebrity endorsements, because of how popular this election has become, and how much in the news, and how much it’s taken over, you know, our society,” Miss Panettiere told the press.

Am getting pretty annoyed by the belief that people are voting because of ‘celebrity endorsements’ as said above by a 19 year old…? Um….yea…..I would never vote because a certain celebrity wanted me to. She needs to leave her inflated ego bubble if she really believes this huge wave of people voting has a lot to do, if anything to do, with celebrity endorsements.

This girl has got it way wrong. I would never blindly follow celebrity endorsements, and I’m sure the American public isn’t as stupid as to do the same. Maybe people actually find this election important and find it necessary to finally vote Hayden???

That was pretty asinine. Umm… I like Robert Duvall, but that doesn’t mean he inspired me to vote (or even, to vote for McCain). Celebrities have a right to voice their opinions, but I doubt very many people are actually swayed by them.

what a little brat - that was such an egotistical and ignorant thing to say.
i suppose people can assume that the american people are ignorant, but seriously, celebrities don’t wield such an influence. i kind of want to bop hayden on the head with a toy dolphin and tell her to shut the hell up.

this is why teeny-boppers don’t vote; if miley cyrus said to vote for blahblah, the outcome is already determined.

I think celebrities do encourage people to vote, just because they get out there and get in your face in the campaigns. I think that younger people who may not be thinking about voting can see ads reminding them to vote, and follow their favourite celebrities example. I don’t think many people are dumb enough to vote for a particular candidate though just because their fave celebrity is voting for that person, but then I could be wrong. I’m pretty sure most of Oprah’s audience has been converted Obama. I honestly don’t think Hayden meant it to come out the way it did.
