If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?

However, he lost the electoral vote to Bush and lost the overall presidency. This makes me question why we vote. When the popular vote is calculated, another vote takes place in something called the Electoral College.

There are a total of 538 congressional members representing all 50 states and Washington DC. Of those 538, 270 votes are needed to become president. Those 270 votes are not from individuals but from their representatives. In other words, their vote is the one that really counts.
