He was that homeless kid who captured the hearts of American Idol viewers with his tear-inducing story.
Well, now the aspiring singer might be blocked from releasing his debut album because he was a contestant last season.
Josiah, who failed to make it into the show’s top 24, received an official letter from Idol threatening legal action if he puts out his record in January as planned.
Idol retains right of first refusal and the 19-year-old’s album is slated to come out on the Warner Records label, not Idol’s Sony/BMG.
He is appealing now and hopes the Idol folks will back off and let him proceed as planned.

honestly. bah. it’s all legal schmegal crap… but it’s there for a reason. Idol probably didn’t ‘make a point’ to make sure that this kid read all the small print when he signed up for the show, but they aren’t stupid (smarmy, but not stupid…) and now they’re going to make a point. READ YOUR CONTRACTS, KIDS.

Right on!! Stomp on the kid!! Otherwise his albums will tank David Cook and David Archuleta ’s career. We cannot let them happen can we?
Surely preventing a homeless kid from releasing an album would cause them more damage than lost sales from other contestants?
