A mannequin dressed as Sarah Palin hangs from a roof with noose around it’s neck outside Chad Michael Morisette’s West Hollywood home.
Morisette is quoted saying: “it should be seen as art, and as within the month of October. It’s Halloween, it’s time to be scary it’s time to be spooky.”
He acknowledged that had he depicted Barack Obama in the same scene, it would not have gone over as well, because the history of a hanged black man in America is a lot more intense than a hanged white woman. Nonetheless, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said the mannequin sporting a beehive hairdo, glasses and a red coat does not rise to the level of a hate crime because it was part of a Halloween display.
