The actress/mother/philanthropist was on hand to present Academy Award-winning director and producer Clint Eastwood with the Hollywood Director of the Year Award at the festival’s Hollywood Awards Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Ron Howard, Michael Mann, Sam Mendes, Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone are among the past honorees of the coveted honour.
Angelina, who seems to never run out of the energy to both move her family from one exotic location to the next, or to do-good, recently returned from her two-day humanitarian trip to Afghanistan where she visited families stricken by poverty.
Jolie’s appearance was such a surprise that the crowd gasped when she was introduced. “There are some people in this business that are icons, and we often wonder if, when we meet them, they’ll live up to what we imagine them to be,” she told the audience. “And Clint Eastwood in person is even better.”

She’s just gorgeous. She has meaning in her life now and you can see that. She is doing good for other people and you can tell she puts her heart into it. News: “This came from a seven-minute conversation that we had at the Toronto Film Festival at a big party, and the next minute it’s in all the papers.”
A source told Page Six of the new sighting: “They were very affectionate to each other. There was another man at the table, but he looked like he was a chaperone-or just there to stop tongues wagging. They basically ignored him.”
The stunt date certainly wasn’t an attempt at damage control after Aniston was recently seen taking her last fake BF, John Mayer, back-a move that some would consider not very strong and definitely not very independent.
