AVRIL’S LATEST MUSIC STEALING SCANDAL

Oops…did she do it again?

Canadian rockstress Avril Lavigne has been plagued with accusations of stealing music in recent weeks. First fellow Canuck Chantal Kreviazuk laughed off Avril’s apparently nonexistent writing skills. Then ’70s group the Rubinoos accused Lavigne of ripping off their 1979 song ‘I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend’ for ‘Girlfriend.’
Now it seems you can add another Canadian to that bill — electroclasher Peaches.

The first 20 seconds of Avril’s ‘I Don’t Have to Try’ sound nearly identical to Peaches’ ‘I’m the Kinda’ from 2003’s ‘Fatherf*cker.’

We were ready to dismiss the previous claims when this Peaches accusation came to light. Check out the comparison — it’s blatant.

Why should he source Perez? Perez has stolen from this site numerous times without a source in site.

Wow…unmistaken similarity. Can she get off by saying, “I never heard that song before” ? I know that’s what she said for the previous one, but how could you get away with this?

SO lame! Avril is a fuckin’ JOKE.

She is not a trace of how great Peaches is…

Avril is so clueless about art that stealing years after Peaches song is just a good fit for her…

I guess the time to tear down this celebirty is now…ready set go fellow piranhas!! Start the feeding frenzies….no imitating 28 Weeks Later’s zombies though……otherwise that would be a copy infringement.

  15. July-10-2007 @ 3:56 pm

uh, he didn’t steal it from perez, it’s all OVER the net. i think TMZ had it first and Perez stole it from them. but if you’re looking for integrity in the celebrity gossip blog world, uh, you best keep on trucking. or give up that fight, it ain’t happenin, sadly.

  16. July-10-2007 @ 3:57 pm

umm right, many of those songs are remixes and the original artist gets a share. other than that, i don’t know what you’re talking about.

oh mygod, its such a scandal. god i hate this girl too but to me this is what music is all about these days. Just ripping off something you’ve heard before. I hate it but it’s true.

Lolly’s right, umm right. It’s illegal for artists to sample other artists without getting their permission first. It *used* to be that artists could sample at will (Beastie Boys anyone?), but that all changed back in the early 90s. Check out Grand Upright Music, Ltd v. Warner Bros for more info.

Peaches would win…because Avril Labitch, like her lack of song writing skills doesn’t know how to fight…. she’d like send someone else to fight for her and then say she fought….

AVRIL AVRIL….avril…if that is your real name…or did you steal THAT too…maybe her real name is like Alice…Alice Labitch

Not being a fan of either. . . .I truly do not detect similarities between these two songs. They both lack appeal but that is the only similarity between these two tracks.

  22. July-10-2007 @ 11:07 pm

Haha she sucks. Oh you should listen to her mandarin version of girlfriend. I was listening to the radio a few nights ago and the djs were making fun of her. Omg she sounds soooo stupid and Ive no idea what the fuck shes singing in chinese Haha.

Avril just stated in her interview in InStyle magazine that that song is one of her favorites. She quoted it in her list of top five favorite songs.

I’m sorry but wormwood, you’re either dumb or deaf. Those songs are completely identical! I mean…..it’s pretty obvious Avril ripped off Peaches, and Avril has proven herself to be a thief already…

You know, this isn’t about the fact that everyone copies everyone. There’s plenty of artists that sample old stuff (music, lyrics, etc.), you can’t really name one today that hasn’t. The point is that you MUST give credit where it’s due. You can’t claim something as you’re own idea if it isn’t. Duh.
