Celeb supercouple Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were among the many who attended the 2008 Whitney Museum of American Art Gala in New York City tonight.
Mimi looked sultry in a silky bondage-inspired dress and stylish black heels. Nick, again, looked like her personal driver.
Hosted by slew of stars and industry types (including Christina Ricci, Amanda Hearst and Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester) the theme of the Gala was “Whitney — Past, Present and Future.â€
Since the event was sponsored by Donatella Versace, the Italian designer teamed up with artists Julian Schnabel, Marc Quinn and Wangechi Mutu to create three pieces of jewelry for the occasion. They will be auctioned during the gala dinner along with drawings signed by each artist. The proceeds will benefit the museum.
Other A-list invitees included Allegra Versace, Patrick Dempsey, Sting and wife Trudie Styler.

Yeah…Mariah looks terrible here. Maybe it’s just her makeup or something but she does look old and like she’s trying too hard. I think she’s a very talented woman but I think there’s something a little crazy there….her obsession with butterflies is a little disturbing for a woman of her age. She’s almost like the female version of Michael Jackson, like she is really naive and never really wanted to grow up or something. Meanwhile, I LOVE Donatella’s gown…gorgeous. Allegra is still incredibly skinny, I hope she hasn’t relapsed again.

What’s with the “mismatched” shitstorm? Nick Cannon is a handsome dude, no two ways about it. And Mimi is beautiful–you’ve got to give her that much, even if she generally does wear her clothes two sizes two small.
So maybe Nick is younger, and doesn’t have the “polish” that an older guy would have. Oh well–he certainly seems to be enjoying his marriage to Mimi, and he will acquire sophistication from this marriage and getting older in general.
