Madonna’s reps have just confirmed that she and hubby Guy Ritichie are indeed divorcing!
The couple asked the media to “maintain respect for their family at this difficult time.”

UPDATE: At issue now: The $525 million estate, the bulk of that belonging to Madonna. Ritchie has an estimated $35 million fortune. They own homes in London, Los Angeles and New York, and a 1,200-acre retreat in Wiltshire, England.

Yeah it’s not good but I think Guy didn’t really want to be married to her anymore!!! He is young and I am sure they will both bounce back!

Hate to hear it, but he is about 10+ years younger then her….and she is a very strong willed woman.
And those kind, are just hard to be married to - if your a weak man.
Sad to hear this. You think after spending 8 years with someone you would want to work on your marriage and fight for it and not just give up and divorce. it’s sad that no one believes in marriage anymore and takes the easy way out and won’t work at it. It’s tough but you made the commitment to someone to work on it good and bad times. Fucking hollywood, why bother getting married then.
Sad. I really feel bad for them, even though I saw it coming based on the media reports. I’m sure they will both be fine, and hopefully the children will be able to handle the split household.
CAR - who says they didn’t work at it? They could have been going to counseling for the past few years, and really made the effort to save their marriage. In some cases, sadly, those efforts simply don’t pan out. I’m sick to death of hearing that divorce is “the easy way out”, especially when there are children involved. If you’ve been through a divorce, either as a parent or as a child, you’d know it’s anything but easy.
Frankly, I’m not a huge fan of Madonna, and I can see why she’d be near-impossible to be married to. That being said, it’s still a sad situation for everyone involved. I hope it stays civil.

Oh God, that means that Madonna is going to come back and live in the USA. But we don’t want her anymore, maybe she could just stay in England forever.
Living with her had to be extremely difficult, at best. Madonna gets what Madonna wants, and anyone in her way gets crushed under her trainers/dom boots.
I think the first public crack appeared over Madonna’s whole “adopt an accessory oops I mean orphan (who’s not really an orphan) from Africa” debacle. He gave off the distinct impression that it was all Madge’s idea and he wasn’t too keen on it (because after African orphans become last year’s accessory, what DO you do with them?) look how THAT turned out.
Guy was a saint to have stuck it out for this long. I’ll bet he’s sorry for the kids (yes, even David), but I’ll bet he starts looking 20 years younger when those divorce papers are signed.
And I’m with wtf–could Madge be forced to stay in England as part of the settlement? We really don’t want her back. Thanks!

I’m with scandic up to the “making good music again” point. I anticipate her next release to be melodic, thoughtful, sad kind of stuff….love her though. Always have.
This is sad, but I think we all knew it was coming. Obviously they had it planned and wanted to wait a while before it was announced. Plus it explains the whole A-Rod talk from the summer.
Hopefully Madonna will return to the US for the most part. I feel bad for the kids though, especially since the parents will be in different countries.
