Ellen DeGeneres stars in a new public service announcement pleading California voters to oppose a ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage.
After getting tons of flack from the gay media for not giving money or lending her star power to the campaign to defeat Proposition 8, Ellen posted this video on her website talking about how getting married was the happiest day of her life.
For what it’s worth, Ellen’s mom Betty has donated $700 to help defeat the initiative.

The gov’t shouldn’t be involved in marriage. Heterosexual, homosexual, or otherwise.
When in the hell is ELLEN going to donate some money? T.R. has given $100,000 and he makes A LOT less than Ellen. Last year it she made over $50 million from her show and endorsements!! Talking and making videos and crying on tv is great, but MONEY is what makes ads and gets them on to counteract the flood of YES vote ads flooding California airwaves lately.
It’s ridiculous that neither Ellen, Portia or any other out gay celebs (besides T.R.) have donated. Why should Ellen’s mom give $700 and her daughter zip???
Cheap ass.
@ Sushi:
MAYBE she already HAS but she doesn’t like to flaunt it!
I seriously doubt she hasn’t made a donation come on!
^^^ I agree. I can’t believe Ellen wouldn’t have already given a ton of money. The ads supporting equal rights were well done, but disturbingly I haven’t see one for about two weeks.
Donations to these ballot causes are all public information due to the voting laws and regulations.
She has not donated a dime.
OH, Neil Patrick Harris gave $2500 a few days ago.
THANKS Neil. You and T.R. rock!!
Ellen, not so much.
