The Live Earth concerts around the world are in full swing.
Events in Sydney, Tokyo and Shanghai have ended but Johannesburg, Hamburg, New Jersey and Rio are still rockin’.
Back in London, meanwhile, Wembley was only half-full for most of the event. That is, of course, until Madonna took the stage to close the star-studded spectacular.
The Material Mama’s show was preceded by a symbolic turning-off of all of venue’s “non-essential lighting” which plunged most of the venue into the true darkness of night, except for the flashes of camera phone and lighters.
As Madonna opened with ‘Hey You’, a brand new track specially written for the event, images of world leaders were transposed with natural disasters.

Oh please the audience didn’t mind, she got a huge cheer from them. Besides she wasn’t the only one saying the “F” word tonight. She rocked…as always. The huge cheer at the end of Hung Up shows most of the audience agreed.

I loved how the adience was screaming her name during Terence Stamp’ long, long, LONG speech. They were really waiting for her to come on stage. Terence seemed a little pissed lol.

I thought she looked great, I saw it on tv. And why bash that Hey You song? I think it was nice and went well with the theme of Live earth. Lord forbid we praise these people for helping to raise awareness to important issues. People have to bitch and moan about EVERYTHING.

how can you say that la isla bonita is butchered? I just watched it and I loved how she did that one. I like how she threw in the song from the other language and those funny guys made it better. madonna looked like she was having lots of fun with them.
“only half full” - WAS IT FUCK! IT WAS PRETTY MUCH FILLED TO CAPACITY APART FROM THE END THATS BEHIND THE STAGE … London had the biggest turnout of all the concerts & had the best line-up …. Rio had more people but it was on the beach & was FREE!

when she invited Gogol Bordello (aka “those funny guys”) to join her on stage I got soooooo excited! And yes, she looked GORGEOUS, as usual. Love the black dress. Uh, and her hair reminds me a little of Alison Goldfrapp.
