WORLD PREMIERE: BEYONCE’S ‘IF I WERE A BOY’

Considering how overwhelming her lead singles usually are, If I Were a Boy is stunningly understated. And we love it!!
Up to now, Beyonce has kept her new yet-to-be-titled album under wraps, not releasing info on producers or co-writers or guest stars, aside from, possibly, Justin Timberlake. She recently wrote on her website, “I have taken risks here. I am not afraid and my music will explain it all. There is no label or tag on my sound.”
Beyonce shot the video for If I Were a Boy on the weekend after the Fashion Rocks Event. It’s directed by Jake Nava who also co-directed Beautiful Liar.

she has a different sound but i still dont like her she yells to much.thats just my opinion but the singer song writer to this song is BC jeans, and she sings it helluva lot better… look it up on youtube..

doesn’t ciara have a song by the same name or close to it? she isn’t always original, but i’m glad she gave us a chance to miss her. someone should remind her that less is more, and too much is a bore.

dubi, Ciara’s song was “Like a Boy” and you’re right, there’s a lot of thematic and rhymthic similarities of Beyonce’s song. If I didn’t just read that it’s a cover of another singer’s song, I would be more dubious that Beyonce “borrowed” the song from Ciara. That said, I like the change up. I do love Crazy in Love but I’m sure there’s plenty of those kind of songs on the CD.

It sucks, and if Beyonce were a boy she would have never gotten famous. Men can’t get to be celebrities simply because they have huge asses.

Angel, BC Jean did the demo she even said it on her myspace when it leaked. You can’t tell anyone what to buy and not buy.
And Palin’s Fuzzy, Ciara song is totally different so hush.

I LOVE IT!!! It’s nice to hear something vulnerable from Beyonce. It actually gave me goosbumps at one point.. i could hear the emotion in her voice… wow

I love Beyonce so much and this song is stunning. I didn’t quite expect this sound but she sounds great. The emotion of the song and the lyrics are touching. This song is going to be #1 in about 2 to 3 weeks bet. When people really listen to this song they would like it more and more because at first the new sound gets your attention but when you listen to it a second you listen to the meaningful words.

Its so funny what most people think. Dont you people see it, you say she copied ciara’s song….lol it sounds way better than Ciara’s. Not only in lyrical content but the vocals are just way better. I think we’re are seeing a new side to B, i LOVE it,take it or leave it haters…like it or not her album will sell, i know everyone in my house will get a copy.

I lovee beyonce…shes so much betaa than ciara. She has much more power in her voice than ciara and I will defo buy a copy of her album so haters live with it because we are all with her and againt you..this song reminds me of my ex because we were happy but he went behind my back but im preganant to his baby and if i were a boy i would be faithful.

She copied the song. She may have slowed the song down, but its the same song. I think she has gotten to that point were she can’t write songs for herself. She should just sing and let someone else write them because “if you like it than you should have put a ring on it” reminds me of “get me body” which is about her being in the club dancing and guys recognizing her.

I totally love this song! If anything she got it completely right. Any man out there who thinks he’s not exactly like this song depicts is an idiot. I mean look at the stats. Uhm… 100% of the men out there treat thier women badly, take them for granted, and care about acting “manly” in front of other men. I mean “You’re just a boy”. Think about that. It even sounds deservedly derogitory. If it was longer it’d run “You’re just a boy, you can’t help it you can’t emotionally connect and trust your woman”. I mean a self empowered woman should be able to dress herself up, choose to look what society considers “hot”, gyrate onstage like she’s copulating including powerful pelvic thrusts that make her hips seem detached and not be judged as even possibly being unfaithful.
Yes I’m being sarcastic. Yes I’m apparently a boy who isn’t “normal” and gets offended by this garbage. You go “girl”…
