Leggy songstress Kelly Rowland hit up the NYC set of MTV’s ‘Total Request Live’ today to promote her second solo album since 2004, ‘Ms Kelly.’
As for reviews for the former Destiny’s Child singer’s latest album? Surprisingly good, actually.
From USA Today: “Aggressive and sassy up-tempo numbers confirm that she’s surely ready for her close-up….Ms. Kelly carves out her own niche.”

I like her. She’s very upbeat, and quite pretty. I haven’t heard her any of her singles though (are any out yet?), but it’s nice to see she’s getting good reviews.

JC, Kelly isn’t from American Idol (if that’s what you mean) - she’s from Destiny’s Child. I used to reeally cheer for her in the hopes that she would get out from Beyonce’s spotlight long enough to create her own but she is quite comfortable living in Beyonce’s ass so I suggest she stay there. Also, i saw an interview with her several weeks ago where she said that Beyonce was robbed of the Oscar. The bitch lost me forever at that point. Seriously, how stupid can one person be - not to mention that she was disprespectful of the other nominees (and winner) in the category.
Supernova, have you ever heard the phrase, “Don’t shit where you eat?” Kelly’s manager is still Matthew Knowles, she still uses his studios, she depends on his production team, etc.

Neither she nor Michelle is stupid, they both have their core audience but nothing like Beyonce (like her or not). When they all start to cool down they’ll make more millions by reuniting Destiny’s Child.
Barks, have you ever heard the expression, “stand on your own two feet” - Are you still letting your mother cut up your meat for you? Right. She’s been with Matthew Knowles’ management company since she was TEN YEARS OLD. Have you ever heard of such a thing as “growth” and “expanding your horizons”? Seriously, he’s not the only manager in the entertainment business (and it doesn’t have to be a negative thing with her finding new management for her to expand her horizons — clearly, she appreciates him - at 25, though, she needs to work with more people in the biz and in life than just Daddy Knowles - even if she fails, she’ll be better for it).
I actually think Michelle is pretty stupid right now because she’s playing it safe which is boring (Michelle is a completely different ball game — her options are fewer and so is her “hardcore audience” - remind me who they are again?). But we’ll see what she does with this CD - maybe it will be the breakout she needs.
^I meant Kelly is playing it safe - not Michelle (Michelle is actually taking risks - like doing Broadway and releasing gospel music).

Michelle has the career that she wants. She was a gospel singer before joining DC and she has returned to her roots as a gospel artist. Besides doing that, she also performs either on or off Broadway. She’s the first to admit that she’s a low-key kinda girl… we can’t hold her to the same standard as mega-star Beyonce or blossoming-star Kelly.
^The Beautiful One - yeah - that’s what I said in my earlier post “michelle is a completely different ballgame” and that she “takes chances by doing Broadway and gospel music”. I find the choices she has made and the path she’s taking to be far more interesting than the other two girls and she’s actually done very well at them (though, of course, her fan base is much smaller). Kelly can learn a thing or two from her but it could just be that Kelly’s a late bloomer (I heard her on a radio show last week saying she understands that everyone wants her to get out “from under Beyonce’s shine” but that the real reason her first album tanked was because she just wasn’t ready but, now, she is).
I”m sure Kelly is scared shitless to fire Matthew Knowles. Remember how they did the other two girls when they wanted new management. Plus I strongly believe she is that man’s illegitimate daughter.
Heard her new album, just have to say: GREAT. I specially liked the sassy number with Eve, and the melodious song FLASHBACK. And: she’s hot! Stay tuned for more of this great singer.

^Luella - you’re right, she probably is scared shitless to make a move without him - even more reason why this album has to reeeeally kill the charts (otherwise there will be huge pressure for her to get out from under Matthew). I’m gonna check it out today - I’ve heard nothing but positive things so far (though I can’t stand the first single).
She is sooooo cute I love her look. She always looks super fresh and fashionforward but without wearing ll of the fucking sprkles and sequins BeyHorsey wears..
