Making it an annual event for ambasador Ashley Judd, the actress was all smiles at last night’s YouthAIDS gala in suburban Washington.

Wearing a Congolese dress made of Dutch Wax African fabric, she spoke of a recent trip to Rwanda and how, after three weeks there surrounded by starvation and violence, it was “very, very hard” to come home. “How could I reconcile the softness of my world?” She was so troubled she felt ill. “My doctor’s prognosis was that I had a very bad case of reverse culture shock.”

She underwent EMDR therapy for trauma, but Ashley says she was really suffering from “grief.” Her conclusion: “It’s going to take some time to heal.”

  2. Candy is Dandy Says:

I think she looks great!! She is one celebrity that has been involved in charity for a long time for the right reasons. Unlike many of the celebs you see today doing it for the press factor!

  3. Honey Says:

The dress is pretty out there but for a good cause so she gets a pass this time!!

Candy is Dandy - Whether charity is done for press or for other reasons, those on the receiving end are benefiting as a result. The “means” is irrelevant. It’s the “end” that counts.

I like her, she’s really is awesome. I mean she can choose to go to the gym 7 days a week, cosmetic, all those other things celeb do to stay thin and young looking and keep her status as sex symbol, yet she choose to do her thing and helps with the less fortunate.

Gosh, she used to be the hottest actress in Hollywood. Now she looks like her sister Wynonna. I’m not knocking full-sized ladies (’cause I’m one) but she’s not aging too well.

she is a beautiful woman, and I know some people will say I am being my usual negative bitch self, but I have dealt with this woman. She is a BITCH. Not too many in the industry have nice things to say about her- except Morgan Freeman of course…..

she is always in therapy for something or another. remember when her sister was having problems and ashley managed to turn it into an all about her situation as well? god. it must be so hard to have to go back to living your posh life.

Wow !!! She is packing on the pounds !!! She, and all the other Hollywood folks, need to stop pouring money and time into “The African Problem” it’s a lost cause and the total of all the money they raise is just a drop in the ocean of what they need to even make a small dent in the problems of that continent. Let me put it this way–50bil dollars would not even begin to help those people. I have been to some of these countries and the corruption is just completely out of hand in most of them; tribal infighting is a huge problem; plain old superstition/cults/odd beliefs are another–the list goes on and on. It would take a massive, goverment level world wide effort and tens of billions of dollars to even begin to change things there. Spend the money where it will really do some good–not in Africa.
