So, who’s the real winner from last night’s vice presidential debate? Katie Couric. Or so says Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks.
“Her interviews with Sarah Palin were excellent for one simple reason - follow-ups. She did what, unfortunately, so little journalists do these days - she asked pertinent, revealing (yet polite) follow-up questions. This allowed us to see behind the veneer of Sarah Palin and realize it was backed up by absolutely nothing. Real journalism led to real facts we would not have otherwise seen.
Imagine if Couric had not done those interviews - or had not asked those tough follow-up questions - and all we had seen were Gwen Ifill’s standard queries from Thursday night, we might never have known how very little Sarah Palin really knows. And that’s relevant. It’s important for the voters to understand how much or how little these candidates actually know. They are applying for the most important job in the world.”
And Speaking of Gwen Ifill, rumour has it Queen Latifah will play the moderator in Saturday Night Live’s version of last night’s debate.

I totally agree! She gave rehearsed answers and blabed abou the same point on energy over and over again. She wasn’t bad but didn’t provide anything of substance. Biden was great!!
Yes it is disgusting that most of the media fall all over their asses in fear of admitting that Sarah Palin knows nothing about running the country. Thank goodness somene has some balls.
The moderator was awful! She didnt ask any follows ups on the core issues and took rehearsed answers from both sides. She is completely unqulified to this country and please….Stop Fucking Winking!!! This isn’t Blind Date!!!
Iam glad a woman interviewed her, because IF a man had interviewed her the same way, they would’ve said he was being TOO hard on Sarah.
Nice spin from a completely biased person about another completely biased so called journalist.
“Real journalism”? Pleeeeeeze.
Yup #5, using the aged-old Repugnican trick to attacking the messenger when you can’t defend the issue — which is that Palin is a total idiot and not fit to lead a Girl Scout troup much less our country.
I agreed. Katie Couric did kept on asking “like what?”, “Give me some specifics” and Sarah goes “you know, everything,” then Katie goes “give me some specifics here” hahahah, at least that’s how I remember the whole interview. Sarah was just an airhead there. It was kinda entertaining in so many ways.
Whether you think Katie Couric is a “real journalist” or not, she asked basic questions, and when she got those ridiculous, incoherent, rambling answers from Sarah Palin, she handled it like a professional. She politely asked for details, which is exactly what she should have done. What Sarah Palin should have done is not accept the nomination, knowing she is not informed enough nor qualified to handle the Vice-Presidency.
There’s a reason Couric’s ratings are in the toilet. She’s a horrible excuse for a journalist.
