HOLLYWOOD DOESN’T WANT YOU TO VOTE

Check out a really interesting PSA about voting from a slew of A-list celebs including Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Ellen DeGeneres, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ashton Kutcher, Eva Longoria, Demi Moore and a whole lot more!

The 5-minute spot was shot last week at Leo’s Malibu estate.

If you hadn’t registered already, will this ad get out the vote?

In a letter dated June 25, 2008, the FEC asked the Obama campaign to verify a series of $25 donations from a contributor identified as “Will, Good” from Austin, Texas. Mr. Good Will listed his employer as “Loving” and his profession as “You.” A Newsmax analysis of the 1.4 million individual contributions in the latest master file for the Obama campaign discovered 1,000 separate entries for Mr. Good Will, most of them for $25. In total, Mr. Good Will gave $17,375. Following this and subsequent FEC requests, campaign records show that 330 contributions from Mr. Good Will were credited back to a credit card. But the most recent report, filed on Sept. 20, showed a net cumulative balance of $8,950 - still well over the $4,600 limit.

    # 1 - because what… if you’re rich and famous you can’t speak out on important issues?

No Riri, cause all the cool celebs are all Democrats. Only losers like Chuck Norris and Wilford Brimley and the coke-head Baldwin brother are Republicans. Trust and believe if the situation were reversed, you’d hear no complaints from these right wing nuts about celebrities and poltics.

#1 is perfectly right. What gives them the right to speak on such a public platform? we all know that a vast majority of those celebrities barely made it out of high school let alone college, but because they’re rich and famous their opinion is automatically placed on a pedestal, while the rest of us are supposed to look adoringly up and them and praise them for their intellect. its ok to speak about issues, just don’t force your opinions down our throats-ex Oprah

The goal seemed to be to provoke people from complacency…. unless everyone actually votes, the system isn’t truly representative of it’s populace….yes, Halle Berry is quite patronizing…..personally I prefer a more positive approach……this is quite LA “style”………. Republican’s are very motivated towards the voting booth so hopefully this ad will stimulate a final count that accurately reflects the opinions of the people.

I think everyone must keep in mind that we all have our own opinions and ideas on what the important issues are to us and the problems that are facing this country. I don’t mind that celebrities have opinions or are political as long as they are honest and truthful. What I don’t like is when celebrities use their status to try and sway people by making negative and rude comments about our Political Leaders. If they are so interested in making a change for this country, they are welcome to take a pay cut and serve the public.

    No. 1,
All these celebrities are doing is using their fame to promote a good cause. They aren’t even saying who to vote for, they are just saying to vote.
Im actually super pissed that your getting angry at people for having social conscience, do you have any idea how stupid you sound?

To No. 1 and the other haters,
If this were a group of high school students you’d applaud them. People are people no matter who they are. Just because they are celebrities doesn’t mean they don’t truly understand the importance of voting. Just because they have a lot of money, doesn’t mean they aren’t concerned about the overall financial welfare of the entire country. What it boils down to is the message. Tell me any reason why you should feel threatened by the message. It’s a fantastic message. What negative outcome is there for exorcising your right to vote? So if anyone, be it famous or not, wants to encourage people to stand up and have their voice heard I applaud them.

Question is how often have *they* actually voted before *they* stepped into make this PSA? Did they recieve money for it?

Pixielynh has a point, but to me, it’s *very* hypocritical to be spouting and use reverse psychology on people. Granted the *intent* may be wonderful and reach those who don’t know why they should vote. But celebrities have lately not given me *any* reason why I *should* listen to a word they say.

*Many* of them have opened their mouths and have shown how patronizing and far they are from relating to average normal working class person. To me, this is just another example of it. If they are encouraging people to stand up to have they’re voice to be heard, just say it. Why use reverse psychology? We’re not stupid.

So call me a hater if you want Pixielynh…but I’m a normal person who don’t like to be patronized as if…and Hollywood should *really* think before opening their mouths.
