DAVE CALLS OUT MCCAIN ON HIS COP OUT

John McCain canceled a scheduled appearance on CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman mere hours before he was slated to tape the show today as part of the suspension of his campaign.

McCain said he couldn’t appear because he was rushing to the airport to get back to Washington. But midway through the broadcast, host David Letterman learned that the Arizona senator was actually still in New York. In fact, McCain was just a few blocks away, at the CBS News headquarters where he was preparing for a last-minute exclusive interview with Katie Couric.

Letterman then mocked McCain during the show’s taping. “He doesn’t seem to be racing to the airport, does he?” he said, shouting at the television monitor: “Hey, John, I got a question! You need a ride to the airport?”

Letterman began his broadcast praising McCain, calling him “an honest-to-God hero.” But then he turned critical, questioning McCain’s decision to halt his campaign.

Says the late night funnyman: “You don’t suspend your campaign. Do you suspend your campaign? No, because that makes me think, well, you know, maybe there will be other things down the road –- if he’s in the White House, he might just suspend being president. I mean, we’ve got a guy like that now!”

He added that today’s events were an indication “that something is going haywire with the campaign.”

Now John McCain is calling for the VP debates to be postponed too. Hmmm, how convenient. How anybody, in good conscience could cast a vote for this ticket, is beyond me. Of course those people who would vote for him have no conscience, so I suppose it all makes sense.

Dave is an absolute comical genius! I laughed the entire time but it also made me think about why McCain is trying to focus on something other than the campaign.

    MCCAIN is another flaky republican!
The European union has just pointed at the USA as responsible of the state of the economy globally. How proud we all should be of the republican ideology! Wars, greed, corruption, lies with no end while using the millions of idiots that fall for the cheap “friendly” yet totally chaotic and evil talk.

It’s been interestingly quiet on all the political blogs I visit regularly and today it’s like a tomb in them, even the conservative right ones. (every Republican was or is onboard despite what some would like the world to believe just like with Dem’s. I’m quite happy not to be either.) McCain should have stuck to his guns and integrity and picked who he really wanted instead of who would bring him a base that’s now starting to crumble. If he had picked Romney or even Ridge (never Lieberman), things would be more stable for him and people would have REAL confidence and not this bullsh!t phoney one some are trying hard to convince themselves they have. I’m not a supporter, but I was at one time, and this is not how he should also be remembered.
