Janet Jackson is one stop closer to joining the unemployment line.
The pop legend has severed ties with Def Jam Records after releasing just one album on the label.
Producer Rodney “Darkchild†Jerkins made the announcement of Janet’s exit from Def Jam in a video blog today.
According to Jerkins, Janet had been feuding with the label and wasn’t happy with the promotion of her latest album, Discipline.
“We didn’t get the support from the record company,†he said. “[Janet] felt like it wasn’t pushed. I felt like it wasn’t pushed correctly. She just didn’t get her just-do as an artist of that magnitude.â€
Janet signed to Island Def Jam in 2007 and released Discipline in February 2008.

The reality is that Def Jam made the right decision by dropping her ass!! Pop artists have a shelf life and Janet is over expired.
I am a big fan of Janet’s but her album was not good at all. Very repetitive and so similar as all of her music. I dont see her doing much more.
Janet hasn’t been good for years in my opinon. She just never really developed as an artist through the years and just sounded repetitve album after album. Put a fork in her…she is done!!!

Janet Jackson is a entertainer not a singer. She whispers, you barely understand what she is saying half the time.
I actually really liked her last 2 albums. They deserve a listen.
