OBAMA REJECTS LOHAN-HOSTED EVENT

Lindsay Lohan has been getting very political recently (check out her recent blog post about Sarah Palin HERE), but it appears Washinton is thanks but no thanks.

La Lohan reportedly offered to host a series of events appealing to younger voters, but was turned down. A top source in Barack Obama’s team apparently said the actress ”is not exactly the kind of high-profile star who would be a positive for us.”

Not surprisingly, John McCain’s camp was quick to snake in a few comments regarding the matter. “So let me get this straight,” says spokesman Tucker Bounds. “They turned away Lindsay Lohan, but Barack Obama has friends like unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers and convicted felon Tony Rezko? Maybe LiLo is just too upstanding for Barack Obama.”

In response, Team Obama said they’re “glad to see they’re focused on the important issues over in McCain HQ.”

Stay tuned for the next comeback and the ensuing hair-pulling that’s sure to come.

I think Lindsay has the right idea but stepping a little outside of her boundries by even offereing somehting like this. She just doesn’t have that kind of substance to carry something like that.

The last thing the Obama campaign needs is another celebrity endorser. Plus who the fuck is Lindsay Lohan anyways?

Obama makes a lot of stupid mistakes and this is one of them. He should never turn his back on young voters. And like it or not, Lindsay Lohan is a pretty damn famous young star. Plus the fact that Linds has cleaned up her life and appears to be living sober.

Hahahahahahahahahaa even Obama wants nothing to do with this girl. Also, I think Obama is doing the right thing by rejecting her offer. He needs to step away from this celebrity world he has entered and start acting like a president. This shouldn’t be about who can capture the attention of Hollywood the most or who can grace the tabloids the most. These are politicians for christ sake, stick to what you do and this goes for sarah palin as well. I’m Canadian but they have to get away from all this celebrity bullshit especially Obama because I have a feeling this will harm him then more help him but thats just my opinion.

First to lizbet and others who rip on the republicans or democrats by name calling. Understand you are not just insulting the politicians you are insulting everyday people for not thinking like you with your ignorant jabs. If you are not educated enough to make a valid point without name calling then I don’t listen to anything you have to say because it lowers my standards.

As for Lohan, go out live in the “real” world. You know, not a millionaire, no security guards, not in the news constantly. Just go be real for a year, you know worry if you have enough income to pay bills, purchase a home or new car, send your kids to a decent school, etc., then maybe your opinion will be validated.

Lindsay has been very on point in regards to her commentary about the current political race. I think camp Obama is just very worried that this “celebrity” status is taking focus away from the political issues he’d rather focus on. I think it’s ignorant of the McCain HQ to comment the way they did, but honestly it seems lately that’s all they succeed in.

Me (post 9) - that is just silly. Neither Obama nor McCain themselves have lived that life in decades. She’s had enough hard times without it, and while I agree with the Obama campaign (getting her would be playing into the celebrity stereotype), they should be appreciative of her support, not dismissive.

    Obama
should be right at home in hollyweird. These people think they are smarter and more important than us “average folks” that live in the real world. They live in a fantasyland with too much money, too much time and too little exercise of their brain cells.

Obama shows who he really cares about.
Holding and going to this fundraiser really shows who and what matters to BO. Not the vast majority of people of America. Glamorous, glitzy hollywood types and people with lots of money who can help him get ahead. Look who took the second most money from Fannie and Freddie, that’s right BO! Oh! I guess all the people at the fundraiser are only the second most important, the most important person to BO is HIMSELF!!!!

Anyone who exposes themselves to the political opinions of their fellow citizen will learn instantly that even those who share many of your views hold them for reasons that are contradictory, vapid, erroneous or non-existent. Kind of depressing but here we are. So all is fair, as they say. Barry has not been holding himself to a higher standard or indeed any standard, rather he and we have found Team Barry laughably incompetent at public life. Barry really thinks he is all that and a bag of chips but he was a big fish in a tiny pond and he wasn’t THAT big at his peak. Barry is a fraud nose to tip. And he smokes. Is there a personal fact that could be more damaging in the modern day? Maybe if he were gay though I doubt it. Barry smokes, everyone knows it. When will a photo come to light? This trivium could put Barry not in the ditch but in the river.

To avoid being mistaken for a sellout,I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist Professors and the structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets. We smoked cigarettes and wore leather jackets. At night,in the dorms,we discussed neocolonialism,Franz Fanon,Eurocentrism, and patriarchy. When we ground out our cigarettes in the hallway carpet or set our stereos so loud that the walls began to shake,we were resisting bourgeois society’s stifling constraints. We weren’t indifferent or careless or insecure. We were alienated.

i think mccain AND obama are right on this one guys! obama is right because this would hurt him overall. jmac is right because obama suddenly is very attentive to criticism and the values of those around him when he has been circling in marxist, anti american, racist anti white, and islamist, fraudulent waters for decades without batting an eye.

So adam.. let me get this straight.. you hung out with black students? GO YOU! You hung out with Chicanos? GO YOU! What I am concerned about is you hanging with Marxist professors… I am guessing you did this to learn other points of view from your own so you can come up with how you feel about it yourself? I’m guessing that is what Obama was doing “circling in marxist waters”… maybe that marxist helped him look outside the US bubble of “security”.. to see how other REALLY feel.. allows for good diplomacy if you ask me! From what I gather, his affiliation with William Ayers was regarding an education idea in Indiana having nothing to do with the terrorist actions of 30 some years ago… we could go back and forth with affiliations all day and nite, I’m sure… on BOTH SIDES!!!
    .
Adam I do thank you though… you bring up some points that get me researching.. that’s for sure. Allows me to be better informed… so you are appreciated if not for what you want, certainly to get people thinking.. see, proved my point (though I don’t consider anyone here and enemy.. we just disagree.. and THANK OUR STARS WE LIVE IN THE USA AND CAN DO THAT).

Now he has blown it and will be stuck with the old coot McCain and the disgusting dangerous Palin.

only1…that’s a quote from obama (i like it because it suggests all his crazy alliances are not by chance from the man who’s wanted to be president since age 4, something i really dislike and distrust)…and i’d be more than happy to dismiss it all as ‘growing up’ and ‘learning about others’ if he didn’t still display a marxist attitude…when he was probing his advisers (not the anti-semitic ones or the ones on fannie mae’s c-level board) he asked them ‘how bad will it be if…’ his opinion on taxes is not to necessarily help others, but to be ‘fair.’ he has no idea how badly his capital gains taxes and taxes on small businesses will hurt us…
also, i’m sorry and i wish you were correct, (honest to GD, i wish i could get behind this man…and if you knew me and all my interests, you’d think for sure i was) but the bill ayers story you relay is just false. the connection is deep as the ocean is wide and only the censoring U of CHICAGO is stopping the public from noticing (and the media won’t report anyways). fact is, this unrepentant terrorist hosted the launch of obama’s political career at his house, and has been involved with millions of dollars being funneled to each of their causes. one might say that ayers handpicked obama to execute his ideals. one might say the same regarding dr. khalid al monsour as well. in fact, that is my concern with obama. i simply can’t digest that all these relationships were for political expediency and nooooowwwwww the real obama will sever those connections and lead us all to camelot.
my issue with obama’s salacious connections is that they are all there seems to be. i haven’t seen him trot out any old friends from college, high school, community organizing days to vouch for his character. nothing. just his wife and her brother who somehow magically went to ivy league schools. wow, what a shitty country.

whatever Says- yeah—- Whatever, Hillary had a 49% disapproval rating among Independents, giving her, from the jump, only about half of the electorate that decides the election every four years. Out of the 51% left, you better bet your bottom dollar at LEAST 20% of those people would vote for McBush or a third party candidate.

Now with the banking crisis- Bill Clinton signed the repeal of the Glass-Stegall act (google it) in which the GOP would surely blame on Clinton.

Lastly, how the hell is hillary suppose to help Obama win, when she can’t even win the primaries (LMAO!!!!)

Remember, out of 57 primary elections he won 38- Clearly a winner!!!

  33. hmm
    September-17-2008 @ 5:51 pm

Adam you are so transparent. It’s funny because I was listening to talk radio earlier and the host said the newest trick from the right wing would be the story about Hillary Clinton. Let’s face it, you hoped that he would put her on the ticket because the right wing smear machine had been working overtime producing dirt on the Clintons. And let me guess, if he had selected her, you would have been on this site and others talking about the foolishness of picking Clinton and you would be releasing new ammunition every day. Instead, your guy picked a woman who is clearly not qualified for the position and that said more about his character than anything the Dems could have said in a 30 second ad. We are on the brink of financial collapse and are engaged in two wars and McCain picks Palin; and every day more and more information comes out which clearly proves that she is not fit to lead this nation. You should save your outrage for McCain and stop spreading ridiculous tales about Obama. You sound ridiculous and you’re really starting to bring the crazy.. Seriously.

I do not want another day of bush policies

Since you like to write dissertations, please explain how McCain policies differ from Bush:
    Economy
    Health care
    War in Iraq
    Education
    Spending

    Please be my guest….

  37. September-17-2008 @ 9:22 pm

I don’t really follow politics closely, but I have to agree that Obama would’ve won if he had put his ego aside and just picked Hillary as his running mate. Not very smart, but I’ll probably vote for him anyway since he isn’t white and male.

  38. September-17-2008 @ 9:41 pm

    36. The democrats current strategy of compairing McCain to Bush is dishonest and baseless. Only the politically ignorant are unaware of the animosity between these two men. The real question is how do McCain’s policies differ from those of democrats.

Economy: The current crises is due in large part to the collapse of the housing market. This can be directly traced back to Clinton’s initiatives to lower lending standards to provide more loans to minorities. McCain, correctly warned against the looming crises in a speech to congress last year. Of course, the democrat-controlled congress, including Sen. Obama ignored his warnings. In the 90s, Obama actually sued banks to force them to issue more subprime loans. Here’s an article from 2000 warning of the disastrous consequences of Clinton’s plan.
    http://www.city-journal.org/html/10_1_the_trillion_dollar.html

Health Care: We need more efficent health care. not a massive gov’t beurocracy.

Iraq: Whether you agree we should be there or not, the responsible thing to do is to make sure Iraq is stable before we leave. McCain will. Obama? Well, it’s harder to pin him down as he keeps changing his position. Now Obama’s aid admits that Obama asked Iraqi leaders to delay troop withdrawals until he gets in office.

Education: Everyone agrees that the educational system is broken. Obama’s solution? Throw even more money at the problem. McCain’s solution: School vouchers that allow parents to have a CHOICE to take their child out of a broken school and place them in a better private school that they otherwise couldn’t afford. You know, like the schools that Obama sends his own children.

Spending: Obama’s new gov’t programs will cost taxpayers trillions of dollars. No one has a better record in cutting wasteful gov’t spending than McCain. Even the NYTimes admits this.

  39. Brett
    September-17-2008 @ 9:51 pm

For what it’s worth apparently Obama also rejected Brad Pitt and several other celeb names. I think they are trying to avoid being to closely associated with celebs after the Mcain campaign ran that Paris Hilton ad. The majority of Hollywood are liberal and pro Obama so they are spoilt for choice. Wheras Mcain are left with Jon Voight and Arnie.. lol. Lohan’s publicist denies an offer being made so who knows if this story is actually true..

    Bea massive FAIL!!!!

We are in a crisis right now b/c of BUSH policies- The task was simple- HOW ARE MCCAIN POLICIES DIFFERENT FROM BUSH.
No one has a better record in cutting wasteful gov’t spending than McCain.- Google keating five- that cost tax payers 120 BILLION dollars- staying in Iraq will cost us 12 Billion a month- He will continue this large Bailout for Corportions

Economy- McCain economic advisor is Phil Gramm- He co wrote the Gramm-Leach-bliley act that repealed the Glass stegall act of 1933- This allowed commercial and investment banks to merge- which CAUSED THE SUBPRIME MORTGAGE PROBLEM. Once again- FAIL!!!!

You can try to hypothetically blame all you want, however the country is in trouble b/c of W policies, not because of what Obama WANTS TO DO. (and you know that)

Let me repeat since you have a hard time understanding- The country is in a mess b/c of George Bush- HOW ARE MCCAIN POLICIES (HIS POLICIES BEA, POLICIES DIFFERENT)

Thanks…. still waiting on that answer

    obama08.
first and foremost. john mccain was absolved in that case and was cleared by a panel of his peers in the senate. second, obama’s made the 2nd most from fnma of any gov’t worker and has 2 former fnma CEOs as advisors. his former group and current VOTING FRAUD perpetrator ACORN, a group that threatened to sue banks if they didn’t invent kooky new loan programs to get more poor people owning homes. please, this is a game you don’t want to play.
look, this isn’t a game of checkers that you’re playing with your grandpa who’s kicking your ass.
you don’t suddenly throw it all to the wind and do the exact opposite just because you aren’t doing well.
if you don’t know that bush is a liberal, i can’t be of much help but here…quickly..
john mccain was almost john kerry’s running mate. when kerry asked JOE BIDEN to be his, biden remarked that kerry should take mccain…by that estimate, john mccain is more like john kerry than bush, only he’s a hero and a patriot. next point. conservatives didn’t like mccain because he isn’t really a conservative on many issues. i guess this part DOES make him like bush.
on iraq…the war is won already. sheesh. sorry to ruin your day. 40k people just attended a soccer game in baghdad, they’re building the world’s largest ferris wheel, and while obama jokes about iraq having a 79BILLION dollar surplus, that doesn’t exactly jive with the liberal meme that we ‘destroyed the country and it will never be back.’ further on iraq, we were fighting like liberals, jmac disliked rummy’s strategy, he pressured bush to change. bush changed. we now have routed al qaeda in iraq, and iraq has the best hope at a future in the arab world.
health care…not sure, but i’m not one who agrees with ‘universal, single payer care’ aka, socialized medicine. though i agree that premiums are too high and the gov’t/pharmaceutical/ama complex is too deep. i’d only expect the marxist obama to worsen that situation.
on the economy…you are not an economist. you don’t know what the laffer curve is. you don’t even know what the community reinvestment act is and you don’t know that bush AND mccain have been trying to remedy the socialist entity fannie mae and freddie mac since 05. is it possible that the boom in the 90s that clinton enjoyed had anything to do with reagan clearing the way for a safe world and winning the cold war?
on spending…don’t lie, you love more spending…you just don’t like that the hypocritical repubs were the ones spending. i hate the gluttonous gov’t spending. obama wants to grow gov’t and shrink the economy. and make even more people dependent on gov’t entitlements, therefore securing the permanent welfare state. even bill clinton said, ‘maybe we have to slow down our economy.’
on education…i don’t know. how are the chicago schools? we already spend the most money on education AND health care per person in the world. how do we expect our kids to learn science and math when they spend so much time reading about columbus being a rapist and gay education stories like ‘the two princes.’
seems to me, conservatives want kids tested to see if they are improving and they want to reward good teachers and fire bad ones….seems to me obama would use affirmative action hire teachers and teach more liberalism in schools as if there’s not enough of it.

  46. OBAMA 08
    September-18-2008 @ 5:17 pm

In iraq…the war is won already- Then why does your candidate disagree with withdrawal
Don’t worry about it Bea and Adam.

A very simple question- still no answer- WHAT POLICY DOES MCCAIN DISAGREE WITH BUSH ON (TAXES, IRAQ, HEALTHCARE, ENERGY, ECT)

I guess you could not find the answer to it (though I did read your entire statement- twice)

I blame Bush (not McCain) for the current problems, however if the policies are Identical (which they are) Obama will get my vote
