Here are some highlights:
America on why she refuses to watch shows like The Hills and Beverly Hills 90210: “Close, genuine female relationships are not what generally gets depicted in movies and TV shows. Like, if you’re watching The Hills or 90210, all the backstabbing shapes the way we act – you go to school, and you think your job is to find a sworn enemy and be jealous of each other. I mean, I love Blake [Lively, her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-star]; she’s a wonderful friend of mine, but shows like Gossip Girl kind of condition us to be mean.”America on her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars: “I was like, ‘I’m just going to show up to work and be professional – not their best friend. But a couple of weeks into shooting, Amber [Tamblyn] and I started talking. She’s a hippie, and I thought we had nothing in common – and now she’s one of my closest friends!”

i can’t stand this girl. she is so full of herself
Ugh America, not all of us place our values from what we watch on tv. Gossip Girl and The Hills are really for entertainment purposes, lets not make something out of nothing.
Such a goodie to shoe! Shut the fuck up you are ugly!
So not a fan of this girl!! She is not funny and thinks she is very ritcheous!
I bet her and Blake HATE each other! Who talks down about the show your co-star STARS on, I think its plain mean. She should have just shut her mouth. Maybe shows like Ugly Betty will make people want to dress nice become anorexic and start having affairs with their bosses? Thats like saying I don’t agree with horror movies because they promote murder.
Oh like when they were promoting. That traveling pants movie and blake lively was talking and america rolled her eyes rudely in the corner seems like she doesn’t have to watch the hills or gossip girl she already has the mean bitch attitude already in her. America is kinda fake and full of herself.
I actually thought what she said was nice?
I recent travelled to Orange County/L.A. (I live overseas) and found that most of the people really do act like they do on the TV shows. There’s alot of backstabbing, bitchiness, and boyfriend-stealing going on amongst the girls especially. Of course, not everyone was like that, but most..
I would have rolled my eyes too– the plot lines for Gossip Girl that Blake had briefly outlined in the interview were ridiculous (”everyone is sleeping with each other and..”). Gossip Girl just seems kind of shallow.
