Everything was going just swell, until the topic of discussion turned to Iraq.

The honest truth is we cannot win this war. We value our lives as Americans. Radical muslims…not so much. How can you win against extremists who voluntarily line up to kill themselves for their beliefs? When you kill one there are hundreds more waiting to strap on explosives. We fucked up the balance of power when we toppled Saddam. Big damn mistake there. They don’t need ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy.’ They need a dicator to keep some of those crazies in check!

That being said, Chuck Norris is RIGHT! He’s saying there is tons of waste in government and to single out the Iraq war is just a liberal talking point. I love how she tries to minimize the fact that he has actually been to Iraq and spent time with the troops who overwhelmingly support our need to be there.

GrannyTranny, the Iraq war is currently our govt’s single largest expenditure–WHY NOT single it out? It’s also killing our young men and women–is THAT a “liberal talking point”? And as far as pulling the troops out of Iraq, exactly where was Bush’s exit plan? Oh, that’s right–he didn’t HAVE ONE! But that didn’t bother you Repubs at the time, now did it? It’s funny how the Republican party has run this country into the ground over the past 8 years, but is now calling for “CHANGE” as part of their platform. Oh really? Change from a Republican administration to yet another Republican administration? How exactly is that a change? Unless the Republicans are finally admitting that their last 8 years will go down in history as the worst administration this country has ever seen.
If I was an american I wouldn’t care that much about who the candidates are as persons, I would care about what party can keep the economy up on it’s feet and make it updated with what is going on in the rest of the world. I wouldn’t trust someone who is from the same party that brought you all into the chrisis you are in today. You gave the republicans 8 years in power and they gave you today’s situation. Some months ago we would go to the US to shop because the dollar is so weak and we feel rich coming there. Now the americans can’t afford to buy our products anymore and so we are dragged down in the fall with you. So I’m also hoping for the american economy to heal, even if I think my country will trade more with China, who are clearly replacing the US as the strongest economic power in the world.

You know a few months ago there was a wounded soldier from Iraq on the Today show who is now in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and he said something that I will never forget. He basically said “you don’t get to cheerlead for a war if you’re not in it or haven’t been personally affected by it.” He is so pro veteran but he supports a candidate who doesn’t support veterans. He was so angry and belligerent and he had no defense except that he had been to Iraq. Did he honestly expect them to say, yeah, we want to come home tomorrow. There is a reason why soldiers have donated to Obama by a 6 to 1 margin over McCain.
