As her ex beau Justin Timberlake continues to pollute the headlines with his blossoming relationship with the much younger Jessica Biel, single gal Cameron Diaz has sought solace in the desolate Inca ruins of Machu Picchu near Cuzco in Peru.
Following the whirlwind promo tour of ‘Shrek the Third,’ the 34-year-old unlucky-in-love actress signed up for an 8-expidition of South America.
Some people will simply go to no ends to escape the sight of their former love moving on.

That’s cool. St. Tropez can only handle so many celebs before it’s too crowded. Cam is much more likeable without Justin. And I dislike her on red carpets, she is always trying to be something she isn’t. This is much more her style.

ooooh….Macchu Picchu. Sacred ground & home to one of the first highly advanced ancient civilizations. Would love to go. Makes me think more highly of Cam that she would choose to visit there.

That’s where my dad is from. My brother is actually backpacking in Cusco right now and will probably take the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. There is too much tourism to the ruins now though, and the effects are starting to take its toll on the site. The government is also whoring it out and ripping tourists off with ridiculously high prices… which also affects the locals, because they’re paying jacked up prices to see some of their own history and culture! They want to built more hotels at the base too… Ugh. Anyway, Machu Picchu is gorgeous. I went up Huayna Picchu as well, and I lost quite a few pounds that day ;). I like Cameron- she seems really open-minded (has anyone seen that bistro food show she was on in Japan? She tried EVERYTHING) and adventureous.
Oh and check out the tall, dark and handsome with her. I’d hit it and bt the looks of it, so would she!

that’s great, at least she’s not just in LA all the time, going to restaurants and shopping like it’s the only thing there is in life, like those idiots, richie, paris, lohan and so on. if i had their money i would be travelling all the time, see the world, there are so many awesome places

I’m glad to see her living her life fully…If I had that money I’d want to whisk of to Hawaii for surfing, and travel the globe to beautiful places as well. I get tired of seeing celebrities just frivilously spending their money everyday at Kitson and Rodeo Drive. Not that I wouldn’t get my shop on as well, but there is more to life and Cameron is exploring it. Good for her! Justin’s kinda lame anyways, he’s been looking fug as of late. Yeah, and Aysla, that is sad! You’re lucky to have been there!

This is a gorgeous part of the world I’m sure she will love it there! I love that she does a ton of environmental expeditions and really sticks by the statements she makes about being environmentally friendly. One of the reasons I love her! It kinda bothers me that she’s being hounded in Peru though, can’t the girl have a moment of peace!

I wonder if maybe it was another tourist that took the picture? I just find it very odd that the paps knew she would be at Machu Picchu at that day, that hour. You don’t just take a plane to the area and that’s it- you fly to Cusco, then take trains to Aguas Calientes and a bus up to the ruins (on the way down an Indian boy runs all the way down the mountain shouting something in Quechua and waving to the tourists on the bus- that’s quite a distance!!). Anyway, lolly I agree- it is sad. I don’t think they should stop tourism, but control traffic and put more money into keeping up the grounds. In any case, I highly encourage all of you to go! It seriously surpasses whatever your hopes for it may be.
