Matt Damon opened up about how being a father changed his outlook and reinforced his commitment to helping kids through charity work at the OneXOne event in Toronto today.
“At a certain point it becomes difficult to look at other children and not see your own,” he told reporters a few hours before hosting the annual charity gala. “Something does change in you once you become a parent. … There definitely is a shift there that makes you, I think, a little more obsessed about helping children.”
Matt also revealed a milestone in the new life his 3-week-old daughter, Gia Zavala. “She smiles now,” he said. “Mostly when she goes to the bathroom. That’s natural.”
This marks the third year Matt has hosted the OneXOne gala, which is being held in the midst of the star-studded Toronto International Film Festival.
