Hermès took its world class luxury to a new neighbourhood last night.

The French fashion company opened a flagship on Broad Street near Wall Street yesterday, offering everything from its famed saddles on which it was founded by Thierry Hermès in 1837 to brightly patterned bikinis designed by the house’s creative director for women’s ready-to-wear, Jean Paul Gaultier.

Uber sexy A-listers Rachel Weisz, Chloe Sevigny, Kyra Sedgwick and hubby Kevin Bacon were on hand to add a touch a glamour (as if it were necessary!) to the highly fashionable event.

In its first year, the 4000-square-foot flagship is expected to generate sales of $20 million.

That’s a lot of overpriced handbags.

    Um, “Uber sexy A-listers”? Not one of those folks can open a film on their own. If these guys are A-listers, then I guess that makes me B-List.

    They may be expensive or ‘overpriced’ in some people’s opinions but they are beautifully made, fantastic qaulity products. If that’s what you are looking for then Hermes is the place to go, otherwise look elsewhere. The Birkin bag is just gorgeous and will never go out of style!

    THEY’VE OBVIOUSLY ONLY OPENED THIS BRANCH TO APPEAL TO ALL THE RICH HUSBANDS ON WALL STREET WHO RUN INTO THE STORE TO GET THE WIFE A GIFT … ALL THE UPPER EAST SIDE LADIES WHO LUNCH WILL STILL USE THE UPTOWN BRANCH.

    I think Kyra is just one beautiful, confident, sexy woman. The Opener is a terrific show. I can’t look at Kevin Bacon without humming “Footloose”. Shit, I gotta get up and dance. Back in a few … :)
