Long before she was hurled into vice presidential candidate fame, People magazine sat down with Gov. Sarah Palin to chat about her baby boy Trig.
At age 43 and 13 weeks pregnant, Palin had an amniocentesis that indicated her baby had Down syndrome. A staunch opponent of abortion, Sarah told hubby Todd: “The good news is we have a boy. But we have a challenge.â€
Todd’s response? “Awesome! I’m getting another boy.”
Here are some highlights from the interview.
Palin on initially hiding her pregnancy from the public and her family: “Not knowing in my own heart if I was going to be ready to embrace a child with special needs … I couldn’t talk about it.”Palin on when her qualms were laid to rest: “The minute [Trig] was born.”
Palin on getting back to work within hours of giving birth: “I’ve never had to leave a meeting to feed him, but I have been on teleconferences where no one has known I was nursing him.”

If Obama had chosen Hillary Clinton as his VP, then McCain would never have chosen a woman. He only picked a woman because Obama didn’t pick one. That does not say much for McCain’s rationale.
************************* WONDER WOMAN 08 **************************************
She did not get to where she’s at by marrying a former governor or a president, can you hear that Hillary.
Annonymous:
Hillary did not marry a former governor or former President. She married him before he was either, you idiot!
no no no
.
your an idiot with that remark. You honestly are.
He picked the correct person, being a woman has nothing to do with.
idiot
maybe she hurts your so called man hood, huh?
.
Hell she is hurting everyones man hood, she is more of a man then all 3 of em put together.
.
Hillary would never have become senator, had she not been married to Bill.
‘
How IRONIC for a feminist, slept her way to the senate.
Sara Palin did not sleep her way to the VP spot, she did it on her own merits.
I heart hillary, do not care what any of you say!!!
I have a problem with politicians pimping their kids to get votes. Especially when the kids are already in trouble because of poor parental judgement. A bit of sex ed could have prevented this poor girl and her boyfriend from having to grow up too soon. And then to make things worse mom’s burning ambition causes the daughter to live through an already difficult time in the spotlight.
Some of her beliefs and ideas are so ridiculous that they’d be laughable … if they were not so dangerous.
Come on now, these two teenagers…17 and 18 years old….didn’t need sex ed to “prevent” a pregnancy. Obviously they were old enough to know about the birds and the bees AND the long existance of condoms and other birth control methods. “Growing up too soon” was their choice….you know-CHOICE….the thing liberals are always touting. Why is abortion okay for PRO-CHOICE supporters but choosing life is so horrible?
Missouri: Maybe you and everyone else who makes this same ridiculous comment don’t know anyone who has been through sex ed and still gotten pregnant or contracted an STD, but I know a bunch of them. Actually if you look at the statistics of teenage pregnancy and STD contraction (especially HPV) we all know for damn sure teens are not following the sex ed curriculum you think is so magical. I went to a high school that taught sex ed and (gasp……….) girls got pregnant. Most had abortions, but some actually kept their baby. People act all high and mighty on here like you went through sex ed and ALWAYS had protected sex.
I love Hillary as well, so back off!
It is also very obvious that McSame choose Palin for his running mate because she has a vagina, get a clue, folks!
I would LOVE top see a woman in such a high role in our country, but only if she is qualified.
Hillary would have been, Palin, sadly, is not.
I LOVE Hillary and you people are crazy saying she has to depend on Bill for her career. That is idiotic. Sarah Palin gets on my last nerve with her fake ass speach last night. She had absolutely no emotion whatsoever she was just delivering lines someone else wrote for her. All she did was cut down Obama and make jokes, she is annoying beyond any words I can come up with…..
Had Shrillary not been married to Bill the rapist, she would not have carpet bagged her way to New York and won the Senate seat.
As a single, unmarried woman, I cannot support any female politician who is anti-choice and does not support equal pay for equal work as Sarah Palin does.
PATHETIC! So who’s the celebrity now!?
Said a thousand times before: REPUBLICANS ARE THE BIGGEST HYPOCRITES EVER!
so much for despising fame…and using “people mag” to talk about babies, kids and baby weight?
There you have! the best topics to decide who’s the next president!
I WOULD NEVER VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN WOMAN! EVER!!!
.
.
.
No equality for women, no right to choose, NO THANKS!
obama/biden 08!!!
It is amazing the amount of not very smart republicans in this blog!
the best attack against the republicans, are the very low IQ people that write for them here!
Can you at least give credit to you partisanship and elevate the argument you use to defend you position!?
…Maybe is too much to ask from a republican.
The fact that Palin has provoked such hysteria in the liberal and entertainment media is a sign of how powerful she is and how much they fear her.
^^ Ah, no. It’s simply a sign of disgust.
…with Palin as McCain’s VP pick, it clearly shows the republicans’ desire to continue to engage in cultural wars in this country. They have no desire to try and unite the country, only divide us even further than Bush did. It was a mistake in the 2006 mid-term elections, and it’s a mistake now. Disgusting.
WATCH OUT PEOPLE!
McCAIN IS GONNA DROP DEAD SOON!
THEN< THIS NOBODY WITH EXTREMIST VIEWS, MIGHT REPLACE HIM IN CASE HE IS ELECTED!
THEN WE”LL HAVE THE WORSE PRESIDENT IN HISTORY-!!
THANKS TO THE REPUBLICAN LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY OR CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE FUTURE.
They only care about the short term outcome, the getting rich fast, the sacking of america!!
But I don’t understand why she is on the cover of People with her baby when she wants her personal life left alone. Why does she get credit for having a child who’s not perfect? She’s pro-life and according to her she doesn’t even agree with abortion in cases of rape and incest, so why is her decision to have a child so remarkable. The issue is that she made a choice and she supposedly allowed her daughter to make a choice and should she be elected she would prevent other women from making their own reproductive choices including contraception for married couples. Palin is the female embodiment of Dick Cheney and we know what he did to the country. For heavens sake, she wanted to ban books in Alaska. As the rest of the world moves forward, America, one of the most progressive and innovative countries throughout the history of the world, is considering electing a woman who doesn’t believe in evolution. Scary!
Hmm: “Why does she get credit for having a child who’s not perfect?”
It’s not called credit, it’s called respect. If your life is so sheltered that you have never been in contact with or come across a family that has a child with special needs, I feel sorry for you. Because if you have then you can respect the fact that raising any child is difficult, but one with special needs is even more challenging and deserves a level of cudos for the additional different challenges they face as a family.
how come demonrats think both prez candidates are doomed to die?
Going to have a mongoloid child?? an unwanted/badly timed pregnancy?? GET AN ABORTION and stop reading religion into everything. “Separation of church and state”–believe in it and live it folks……..
separation of church and state is NOT found in the constitution you liberals.
and mike, are you saying there shouldn’t be a CHOICE if your cluster of cells/parasite isn’t genetically perfect?
you sound like a typical nazi liberal there bro.
Yes Adam, CHOICE is the key issue; but once religion enters the picture choice goes out the window. With conservatives it really about religion and thats the problem. Separation of church and state is a founding principle of American government. (Probably to avoid events such as The Inquisition etc.). Remember Adam–more people have died in the name of religion than in all the regular wars put together.
