AMERICA SUFFERING FROM PALINMANIA?

Looks like the Democrats aren’t the only ones who know how to draw a crowd.

Nearly 37.2 million viewers tuned in last night to watch Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin accept the VP nomination last night at the Republican National Convention. That was just 1.1 million viewers short of Barack Obama’s record-breaking speech on Day 4 of the Democratic Convention.

But note: Barack’s speech was carried on 10 networks. Palin’s was only carried on six.

Palin got high ratings because nobody in America knew who the hell she was a week ago. And that is not really a positive thing when we are expected to either vote her in or out in two months.

Why didn’t McCain pick Sen. Hutchinson from Texas, or Sen. Collins from Maine, or Sen. Dole from N. Carolina if he wanted a republican woman? They all have experience, which Palin does not.

Many “Reagan” republicans are voting for Obama as Reagan was the president best able to bridge the divide between both parties (and boy do we need that now!). The McCain/Palin ticket just drives the republican party further to the right and is not in alignment with most of the country.

Palin was carried on seven, not six. Check your facts.

Ain’t it just a tad hypocritical that the GOP’s attempt to paint Obama as a ‘celebrity’ and then they select a VP candidate that was clearly chosen for her ’star power’, rather than her credentials and experience?

Oh wait, you’re talking about Republicans. Hypocrisy goes hand in hand.

Y’all need to scratch beneath the surface as to what is really going to happen to this country should McCain/Palin take office. Watch NOVA. Read the NYT and WSJ. Get the facts, don’t be swayed by the political pandering, on either side.

Tina Fey or Meghan Mullaly need to guest on SNL to play her….

Electric speaker? I feel like I WAS watching an SNL skit…the constant snarl in her voice and the snide remarks will make most people, like Tammy (TEXAS LOVES YA!!!), go out and vote for her…however, anyone with a brain should be able to actually care about what she stands for (or doesn’t) and not fall for a speechwriter’s ploy.

It boggles my mind that a woman, in this day and age, be not ‘pro-life’ but in fact, ‘anti-choice’ as well as negate the importance of sex ed in schools…maybe that’s why her teenage daughter is pregnant…The government has no place inside a woman’s uterus.

    Simiarly…Alaskan soverignty? Really?

I wanted to see what the crazy bitch was gonna say. I was utterly repulsed and couldn’t watch the whole thing. Be very afraid if this bird and the old man are elected. Hello, corruption in Alaska? Such bizarre things said last night, that Palin has more experience than Biden and Obama combined? Huh? That she got more votes as mayor than biden got when he was running for president? how does 900 something compare to over 70,000? So strange and bizarre…and how about that republican crowd, does anybody ever chuckle at that? old white men in strange hats and soccer moms…welcome to America…?

A journalism major as the VP, one seat from the presidency? I shudder at the thought…

“There was no indication any of [universities/colleges she attended] were contacted as part of the background investigation of Palin by presidential candidate John McCain’s campaign.

“Our office was not contacted by anyone,” said Tania Thompson, spokeswoman for the University of Idaho in Moscow.

Palin, the governor of Alaska, was born in Idaho. Her family moved when she was only a few months old to Alaska, where she was raised.

She began college at Hawaii Pacific University, a private, nonsectarian school in Honolulu. She attended only as a freshman during the fall of 1982, school spokeswoman Crystale Lopez said.

Then known as Sarah Louise Heath, she was in the business administration program as a full-time student, Lopez said.

“We’re trying to track down someone who knew her,” Lopez added.

From Hawaii Pacific, Palin transferred to North Idaho College, a two-year school in Coeur d’Alene, about 30 miles east of Spokane. She attended the college as a general studies major for two semesters, in spring 1983 and fall 1983, spokeswoman Stacy Hudson said.

“We were not able to track down club affiliations or anything,” Hudson said.

The school identified one of her professors but he did not remember her, Hudson said.

Prior to her selection by McCain, the North Idaho College Alumni Association notified Palin in June she would be the recipient of its 2008-2009 Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award.

From North Idaho College, Palin transferred 70 miles south to the University of Idaho, the state’s flagship institution. She majored in journalism with an emphasis in broadcast news. She attended Idaho, whose mascot is the Vandals, from fall 1984 to spring 1985.

She then returned to Alaska to attend Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer in fall 1985.

Then she returned to Idaho, for spring 1986, fall 1986 and spring 1987, when she graduated. Despite her journalism degree, she does not appear to have worked for the college newspaper or campus television station, school officials said. She worked briefly as a sportscaster for KTUU in Anchorage after she graduated college.

The McCain campaign did not have an immediate comment on Palin’s higher education record.”

Yeah, just can’t wait to see what Palin and her kooky Christian views might do if she holds such a high power…

I wonder if she will try and get books banned from our libraries, like she did in Alaska, that don’t fit in with her views…?

She wants to decide what I can read AND what I can and can’t do with my body should I be pregnant, even if I am raped?

    Bitch, please.

The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? or a new library? No. $1m for a park. $15m-plus for construction of a multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece of property that the City didn’t even have clear title to, that was still in litigation 7 yrs later–to the delight of the lawyers involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it would be. She also supported bonds for $5.5m for road projects that could have been done in 5-7 yrs without any borrowing.

Just a few details from her wonderous term in office….

I don’t understand why republicans think women will rally behind her. She’s not even pro-women in my opinion. She’s anti-choice, even in instances of rape and incest, and she doesn’t even support equal pay for equal work. As a single, unmarried woman, feminist and former Hillary supporter, I find that rather insulting and demeaning.

15.”Read the NYT”, “Get the facts”

Sorry “X” but those two suggestions are mutually exclusive. The NYT is nothing but a hyper-partisan rag with zero journalistic integrity and quickly dwindling credibility. There’s a reason why they’re going out of business. And there’s nothing hypocritical about pointing out Obama’s celebrity status and tapping Palin for VP. Let me break it down for you so you’ll understand. Obama has no record of achievement other than two books he’s written about himself. His popularity worldwide and among Hollywood actors is due solely to the cult of personality that surrounds him and the fact that he’s half black. Palin, on the other hand has acheived far more than Obama. She’s the governor of Alaska, has an 80% approval rating and a budget surplus. And what has Obama done virtually his entire term in the senate? Miss votes while campaigning for president. Even his own VP candidate, Joe Biden said he was too inexperienced to be president just several months ago. BTW, isn’t it cute that Obama’s simulated greek temple stage at the democratic convention was designed by Britney Spears stage designer? And you don’t think he’s a celebrity? You’re funny “X”. Ignorant, but funny.
