You just never know what private battles stars are facing - until they decide to speak up.

Today LeAnn Rimes helped launch a nationwide campaign called Stop Hiding from Psoriasis, the painful, chronic immune disorder that affects the skin. The 26-year-old country bumpkin, who is working with the American Academy of Dermatology and National Psoriasis Foundation, knows first-hand the physical and emotional pain of psoriasis.

“Having battled severe psoriasis my whole life, I have gone to great lengths to hide my condition, especially as a performer,” she says in a release. “Over the years, I’ve had to deal with the emotional and physical toll psoriasis has had on my self-esteem and confidence, but today I no longer let Psoriasis define who I am or how I feel about myself.”
