Fresh from her visit to Denver, Charlize Theron was in Venice today at the star-studded film festival.
At a press conference, the 33-year-old actress spoke about how there were only a “nominal” number of actresses aged over 50 working in the movie industry. One of them, she pointed out, is 54-year-old Kim Basinger, who plays her mother in new film The Burning Plain, which is showing in competition.
“Kim is amazing. There is a strength about Kim now, at her age, more than when she was working in her 30s. She has a left-over vulnerability from her 20s that you can really see.”
At one point, a smitten fan asked Charlize to marry him. She turned him down, citing her boyfriend of seven years, Stuart Townsend. “You are very cute but you know my boyfriend will kill you.”
