It was back to business for Penelope Cruz, as she departed New York City eatery after dinning with American film producer and movie studio chairman Harvey Weinstein.
Riding high on the success of Vicky Cristina Barcelona, the 34-year-old actress isn’t wasting any time creating new plans for her career, and a meeting with the famed Hollywood bigwig is definitely a step in the right direction.
Dressed in a floral printed blouse, dark denim jeans and chunky espadrilles, Penelope was seen at Cipriani restaurant following a meeting with the 56-year-old movie boss.
Along with beau Javier Bardem, Penelope has been lined up to star in a film adaptation of Broadway musical Nine. Harvey apparently travelled to Barcelona where the actors were filming Woody Allen’s latest movie to sign them. Nine’s script was penned by Robert Marshall, who wrote the screenplay for 2002 hit Chicago.
Other A-list named linked to the project include Nicole Kidman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Judi Dench, Marion Cotillard and Sophia Loren. In other words, anyone and everyone who’s won an Oscar over the past decade.

I think it sucks that having an all star cast already hyped up Nine. However, I am really excited to see Marion Cotillard in it. She was amazing in La Vie en Rose.

Cruz is one of those actresses (like Anne Hathaway) that doesn’t translate well in stills. She comes across much better on film…in action.
