“I truly believe that people like myself, who are in a position of entertainers in the limelight, should keep their mouth shut on politics. Because at the end of the day, let me tell you what I ‘m good at: I’m good at writing songs and singing. What I’m not educated in is the field of political science. And so for me to be sharing my views and influencing people of who I think they should be voting for … I think would be very irresponsible on my part. So I’ll just keep my mouth shut on that. I think celebrity endorsements hurt politicians. Because as soon as somebody comes out for a politician, especially in Hollywood, when they all go, ‘I’m voting for this guy!’ — I go, ‘That’s not who I’m voting for!’ … As soon as Oprah Winfrey pops up and goes ‘Ha-la-la-la-la,’ I’m like, ‘I love Barrack Obama. I hate Oprah Winfrey.’ I don’t hate her. I just don’t believe in her, so I don’t want any part of any of that. I think celebrities hurt politicians.”
– Kid Rock offers his two cents on celebrity involvement in politics in a new interivew with CMT

I think Rock nailed it on the head!!!
I LOVE YOU KID!!
Kid, you ROCK!
Finally somebody with brains from the entertaiment biz I agree with, Celebrity will backfire on Obama.
What a star-studed line up … for the Moscow/Hamas party.
Carter - the WORST President of the 20th century, continues undermining US interests by meeting and HUGGING Hamas leaders. Yeah, those same terrorists that target innocent women and children in Israel.
Pelosi - Leader of Do-Nothing Democrats who prefer 5-week vacations as opposed to passing legislation to DRILL for American Oil.
Kennedy - the Liberal Litmus Test (ie Obama is left of Kennedy). Great swimmer! Too bad Mary-Jo was pregnant with his baby.
This will be a GREAT way to start the Democrat National Convention. These folks truly represent the philosophy and direction of their party to which Obama is even MORE extreme.
Wow, can’t believe I agree with him.
I love him!
I agree with him on all but one part: “I’m good at writing songs”.
No Kid, your message rings true, that statement…not so much.
HALLELUJAH. Someone who actually has a sense of his own strengths and weaknesses. Listen, when I want to discuss politics, I’ll do it with someone who knows what they’re talking about. Which is why I don’t bother getting into in-depth political discussions on this board. Most of the ppl here get their opinions handed to them from a bunch of talking heads. Not worth my time to read the regurgitations of regurgitators.
Kid Rock publicly endorsed Bush four years ago and has supported the Bush administration’s war in Iraq ever since its inception.
What a phony!
Amen, my brothah!
I dont care
Thank you Bobby! Well said.
Yay for kid rock.
I don’t give a shit abot kid rock. I do care if the morons will put a fckr for a president once again!
REPUBLICANS OUT!
repubs out…
mccain was almost kerry’s choice for veep in 04. in fact, biden told kerry no, and that he should pick mccain instead! HAH
he’s hardly a fckr as you say….as a matter of fact, i think you’re in a conundrum, many repubs don’t exactly love all his views.
I like Kid, but I disagree wholeheartedly with him. People should no more be limited to sharing their opinion about a candidate than they should be limited to who they vote for. This idea that certain area’s of the American landscape shouldn’t have a voice because of their celebrity is as discriminating as saying someone can’t live here or eat there. Kid’s just giving his opinion and I respect that, but I also firmly disagree with him. If a person can’t think for themselves when it’s time to make a choice, then that’s on them and not anyone elses fault.
Umm, didn’t Kid endorse Bush? And hello, he is giving this interview to CMT and doesn’t point out the number of Country Western stars who have come out for the Republicans. No, he just talks about Oprah. F*ing hypocrite!!
I don’t care about McCain, I care about the republicans staying in the white house!
McCain, Bush…Regan, all PUPPETS of the greedy hawks that have sunk the country every time in office! NO MORE OF THIS CURRENT MESS WE ARE IN! NO MORE! If you don’t see it maybe you are one of the morons that elected Bush!
Totally agree with TheMirror. All Americans, famous or not, should be allowed to share their views. Celebrities have every right in the political process just like anyone else. If you’re truly committed to the process and have an opinion, you should be able to express it no what your profession and salary range. But I do understand why Kid Rock keeps his mouth shut - he commits nothing to the political process as an American. He probably doesn’t even exercise his right to vote. But other celebs who have a vested interest in the process and have done their homework, should be allowed to voice their views. They are just as American as you and I.
It’s pretty funny how he’s suddenly so republican now that his crap is being played in CMT. What people will do & say to make a buck is pretty depressing.
I agree with him
This is what I’ve been saying to people for ages! I can’t beleive I’m actually agreeing with Kid Rock! It’s probably the smartest thing I’ve ever heard him say. I don’t like it when celebs endorse politicians either, it’s just not their place and it causes more harm than good. Stick to the entertaining. If someone asks your opinion maybe say a few words but don’t go overboard like a lot of celebs are and talk about it all the time and wear the shirts and stuff.
To all the dumb ass people above, saying I agree– You SHOULD be smart enough to pick a politician based off the issues, and not what someone else says (notice I say should). If you are a dumb ass then you agree with the subject above. I do not care what a celebrity, my mom, my friends, or anyone else says, I will vote for who I chose- end of discussion.
Also he is clearly a liar- click link below… i guess all the idiots that agree that you should vote for the other guy just because a celebrity says so will be voting for Barack.
http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=42260
hah! jade! great link.
Well, I know i would never vote for someone based off of what an idiot like Kid Rock suggests. There are actual celebrities who are very well educated and advocates for their communities, who get involved with politics and understand the issues better than most people care to do. I’m not saying all of them are like that, certainly not someone like kid rock. But, the most important thing to remember is to form your own educated opinion and don’t be led by anyone else.
Well, sooo I’m educated in the field of political science, do you want me to tell you who to vote for? Because I’m the only person you should be listening to. Don’t listen to your friend and family or anyone who seems smart until you’v seen their diploma in political science!
Eeeh… If he thinks people would do as he siad (if he told you who to vote for), he has a picture of people as stupid followers who do anything a celebrity says. So, according to Kid Rock the americans are sturpid follewers who can’t argue back against what a celebrity says… So it’s very important that only experts get to state their oppinion…. And because of this he is clever enough to keep his mouth shut.
(Can you tell I’m from a country where we assume that anyone is intelligent enough to think for themselves and it’s just interesting to know the oppinions of other people, celebrity or not…)
Fadedyouth should take a que from Kid and stop talking so much about politics. You’re a gossip site…gossip.
CC, I couldn’t agree more… all the bs political coverage has turned me off from faded youth…
BUT i love kid rock!!! Unfortunately in this country people are stupid enough to follow what others do without examining the issues and thinking for themselves A.
Funny you mention this place being a gossip site! that means it can be the perfect Republican Central! Gossip and defamation base on fears of Marxism and terrorism (WHAT A FKN STRECH) Stretching half ass trues is the only think they call logic: GOSSIP! That is why the do so well with bible readers half ass believed as faith truths. MORONS!
“Totally agree with TheMirror. All Americans, famous or not, should be allowed to share their views…”
.
Damn good post rebutting an argument that’s never been made in this thread. If anyone’s said that Kid shouldn’t be “allowed” to express his views, I’ve missed it.
I’m with cc. Enough of the political bullshit already….
If you judge by the number of comments, FYB-readers like politcis and Jolie/Pitt/Aniston mer than anything else…
“Well, sooo I’m educated in the field of political science, do you want me to tell you who to vote for? Because I’m the only person you should be listening to. Don’t listen to your friend and family or anyone who seems smart until you’v seen their diploma in political science!”
.
Uh, this isn’t what Kid is arguing. He’s saying that he doesn’t know a lot about politics (apparently not even enough to know the difference b/w politics and poli sci), so he doesn’t want to have his political opinions broadcast on ET. Big whoop. I’d say the same thing if someone asked me to share my opinion on double-wide trailers.
.
Seriously. Since when has it become controversial to shut the fuck up when you don’t know what you’re talking about?
Totally agree with everyone who says there’s too much politics on this blog. I can see why arasto does it b/c it’s probably bumping his hits up quite a bit. But it’s beyond me why ppl would actually come here for that kind of discussion. Might as well go the Wall Street Journal for fashion tips.
When Sen. Barack Obama moves the Democratic National Convention from the Pepsi Center to Invesco Field on Thursday, the freshman senator is planning to speak from a columned stage resembling an ancient Greek temple.
==WHY?
==
I really cannot tell what Oboma is running for. He is running to be President of the world, he is running to be the messiah or does he truely believe he is the one and only ture God. I think it must be the later. Maybe ones should look at the scriptures as he may just be the fortold anti-christ. At the most he thinks he is some kind of immortal God. That is all we need.
Oh, just more grandstanding from this pathetic wannabe pop star. Too bad the Democrats couldn’t have got behind a politician that actually wanted to get elected so she could help the people in this country. Instead all they have is someone interested in his own celebrity. Someone could offer him a movie or tv deal tomorrow and he’s forget all about being President.
I am sure Obama’s speech will be great. It always is when he reads from the teleprompter.
Is he running for President or auditioning for American Idol?
I agree with a prior post that I hope there are enough Christians that vote to defeat Obama. Read your Bible about the end times - what will happen when the anti-christ shows himself. So much has been said about how Obama portrays himself and usually, even if blown out of portion, there is a measure of truth.
What about when Obama would not salute the American flag? What about Obama removing the American flag from the tail of his plane and replacing it with a symbol that represents him? There are other examples too. Go to truthorfiction.com and search for Obama. There are many rumors that are false, but there are some disturbing ones that are true.
We are moving fast enough to a one world system. I truly believe that if Obama is elected things will change but not for the better.
I believe this is the crucial election for America in the 1st quarter of the 21st century.
I left a post on another thread that a friend of mine who has probably the only “Biden for President” sticker between Houston and Louisiana will not vote for Obama-Biden. The black lady who sits next to me at work has said for 2 mths, there is something wrong with B.O.
No matter what else ails our country, the ONLY 2 issues which will determine the future of America are the World War on Radical Islam and Abortion.
And on both of those issues B.O. is a typical no-nuthin, uncaring, self-obsessed, Liberal.
About a month ago, I and millions of other Christians, prayed for God to give B. O. a case of motor-mouth. Because we know the more he talks, the less anyone will like him. And ain’t God Great. B.O. won’t shut up.
His numbers are down because this election is about Obama.
Keep talking B.O.
Recovering Liberal
I know B.O. when I smell it.
I have a number of younger friends (in their middle 20s) who sometimes come out with their confident vision of the way the world should work, and invariably are disappointed to find out that someone else thought of it all long ago and that there is documentation available to show why it did not (and could not) work.
Obama is bleating the same rubbish I heard in my junior year at university (in 1968) and apparently whatever he has been doing since then has left no time for reading contemporary history.
Not too long ago I went to The Gap in search of something I could wear, and discovered that their NEW FOR FALL! line is pretty much what I was wearing in 1968. Listening to Obama and looking at the NEW! for 2008-09, I am wondering if the real answer he seeks is the one that James Earle Jones gave to Kevin Costner in *Field of Dreams*: BACK! BACK! GO BACK TO THE SIXTIES! THERE IS NO PLACE FOR YOU HERE IN THE FUTURE!
Kid Rock has hosted fundraisers for Republican candidates here in Michigan and has played at several Republican events. He’s not apolitical. He is hypocritical. I’d still drink with him
He obviously does not want to admit he is voting for Mac man. NO WAY, NO HOW, NO MCCAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I once was blind Says
I am a Christian and I am voting for obama- UNDER THE CHRISTIAN BUSH ADMIN, 4200 soliders lost their lives for what?
Bush will Burn in hell for his sins, you might join him.
jade,
you may want to check yourself because since 1976 (at least) 1000 soldiers died every year even in peace time.
and you not recognizing their sacrifice doesn’t make it nonexistent.
