ANNE WAS AFRAID OF OBAMA!!

Celebrities are getting serious at the Democratic convention.

Anne Hathaway was among the stars who arrived yesterday in Denver for the convention.

Here’s a snippet of an interview she did with the AP.

AP: What issues are you most passionate about?

Anne: “That’s a good question, and it should be a simple one. But right now I feel like there’s so many aspects of our great nation which could use a little bit of help, or a lotta bit of help, that it’s hard to pick just one. I think the most important thing is the economy. We need to figure out the housing crisis. We need to build up our middle class again. Right now, the disparity between the uber-rich and the uber-poor, it’s worrying and it’s not getting better. We need to focus on a way to just get our economy back, to get it back on track.

“Obviously the war is a very important issue to me. We need to get our troops home, and we need to get them home now. My own personal feelings about it is when the world is kind of perfect, and we have those two things — when we’re at peace and everybody has a good job — although we should be working on these at the same time, I don’t mean to imply otherwise, I’m really a big advocate for health care, and of course, my heart lies with education.”

AP: What inspires you about Obama?

Anne: “I was kind of afraid of Obama the first time I saw him. I thought, I’ve been burned by guys like you before. I’ve been burned by politicians before that I wanted to believe in and just didn’t live up to it. And I was afraid to trust him, and I was afraid to have hope when I first kind of became aware of him. It was around the time that he gave his speech on race that I just said, ‘I can’t deny how I feel about you, Barack Obama. I want you to be the president. I want you in the White House.’”

AP: Do you think that the entertainment industry has a positive or negative effect on politics?

Anne: “I think the entertainment industry has all good intentions when we try to come out. The thing that is unfortunate is that some of us who are maybe a little recognizable, we’ve got to come out as private citizens and support our country in any way that we can … .

“There’s a media spin on it that we’re all out of touch. How could we possibly have an awareness of what real Americans feel and think and need because we just ride around in limos and _ I don’t know _ buy diamonds all day long? That’s kind of the perception. But I don’t know anyone like that. I’m certainly not like that. I’m a passionate American, and that’s what I am first and foremost.”

wait, so the ‘uber rich’ are just like all the other people?
hmm. maybe she should give some dough away and cancel the disparity she so worries about.
also, it’s so funny about the war in iraq…obama was born out of the fevered pitch of the anti war movement.
he was one of the only dems who didn’t have a list of quotes bashing hussein (saddam) and endorsing the invasion…since the tide has been turned by the brilliant patreaus, obama should be worthless. but he’s not. and he no longer talks about instantly retreating. hmmm. WHY?
EVERYDAY i hate john edwards more for staying in the race and costing hillary clinton the nomination instead of bho.

Just a question is the celebrity endorsement really important to become president. Sorry to ask since I’m not American I just don’t get why all those celebs keep saying who they’re rooting for . They really think that their opinions matter. I think your vote is personnal and shouldn’t be discussed publicly.

they feel really guilty for their wealth and violations of mother earth tuxedo…
they know that most of them wouldn’t be where they are without looking the way they do.
but, i disagree about the personal nature of voting. issues are too important to allow people to be uninformed and we don’t have an able media to relay factual information.

I agree with you Adam when you say that people need to be informed. But explain to me why is it important to know that George Clooney or Scarlett Johanesson support Barack Obama? I mean who cares, it’s not their endorsements that will push you to vote for Mc Cain or Obama, you gonna vote for the candidate able to come up to the issues that are importants to you. That’s why I think this kind of informations are just irrevelants and should stay personnal.

The celebrity endorsement is only important to braid dead drones who admire celebrities and only get involved issues because their fav celeb sanctions it. Anne has serious clown face.

Well Anne proves again that she is easily dooped by men who put on a good facade but in reality they are not what they appear.

She’s quite articulate. I appreciate that her points of view are clearly stated as coming from an American citizen, and not “celebrity”. She’s certainly entitled to that. It’s a wonderful privilege that we have. I’ll take that over fear mongering anytime!
