A teary Avril Lavigne came out on top at last night’s MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, a street party/award ceremony known more for it’s catty remarks and complimentary booze and less for it’s lackluster guest list.
Avril took the coveted honours of Best International Video by a Canadian and the fan-voted Favourite Canadian Artist title, sparking tears from the normally cocky songstress.
“All the fans just voted for me and that really means a lot, so thank you,†Avril said as her eyes welled up, forcing her to bury her head in VJ Leah Miller’s ample chest.
The cutest part of the evening? When Avril stepped out to perform her international hit song ‘Girlfriend’, Deryck Whibley, her Sum 41 hubby, pronounced: “Ladies and gentlemen….Mrs. Whibley!”

Good for her I guess. But seriously….she does not look like a wife at all! She needs to get over this whole teenage punk brat thing, its not attractive even when you’re a teenager and its DEFINATELY not attractive or cool when you are married and supposedly grown up. That’s kinda sweet though that she was crying, it is her home country and it must feel great to be honored there. I would hate to be a celeb crying in public though…it makes for the ugliest photos.
