After Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale named their newborn son Zuma Nesta Rock, celebrity watchers were left scratching their heads.
Well, now a baby name expert tells Us Weekly that by naming their newborn son Zuma, Gwen and Gavin “have proven decisively that they’re masters in choosing names that are both highly unusual and carry a lot of personal meaning.”
So, what’s the inspiration? “They’ve continued their own place-naming tradition by naming their son after Zuma Beach in Malibu.”
As for Nesta? The new parents are avid Bob Marley fans and thus likely took a cue from the late singer’s middle name, which was also Nesta.
No word on the origin or Rock, but it’s likely what they were smoking when they came up with the name!

Hey like all the reasons the came up with in deciding the name. I think it is pretty cool.

That name sucks. It doesn’t matter where it came from. Some celebs just can’t stand it if they get press time and they must think the name of their baby is a great time to get it. Kingston was a little out there but not bad but Zuma is UGLY.
Why not give birth in England with their glorious free healthcare.

zuma is kind of out there, but as long as it as meaning for them… “kingston”, though, i really like.
it doesn’t really matter, their kids will probably be in music or something creative, so at least they’ll both have names for it.

The name Kingston kinda grew on me, but this name “Zuma Nesta Rock” has got to be the worst name I have ever heard in my life! I think it’s cruel to give a kid a name like that. There is nothing cute about it, and it’s a shame because he’s probably going to ba a cute kid. There’s a reason that it’s so “original”, because no person in there right mind would ever name a baby such a stupid horrific name like that.
