BROADWAY HATES KATIE HOLMES

Wearing a fancy scarf, Katie Holmes was seen leaving the Minetta Lane Theatre today after doing her rehearsals for Arthur Miller’s All My Sons in Downtown Manhattan.

Despite what seems to be like daily rehearsals, it appears that Broadway fans are not warming up to its latest resident Hollywood actress. Ticket sales for the show are thus far a reportedly “definitely off from what the production hoped.”

So, what’s to blame?

“You can’t say it’s the economy,” says the source, “because there are shows, like ‘Mamma Mia’ that are selling out.” One possibility bandied about is that audiences are too nostalgic for Holmes’ “Dawson’s Creek” persona to clamor for tickets. “It’s not that Katie’s bad in the part. She’s good enough. The producers are just getting the feeling people still want to view Katie as sweet little Joey Potter.”

Sons opens October 16 and runs through January 11. Assuming it doesn’t face an unexpected early closing.

Or maybe it’s because no one is into Broadway shows that are unknown. I myself prefer very classic Broadway and lets face it folks, times just aren’t what they used to be..

What the hell is she wearing? a scarf and several layers in august???? i know it’s been a cooler than usual summer in new york, but it does not warrant this much clothing!

she’s not a very good actress in the movies (.i.e, batman begins) so what makes people think that she’d be good on broadway? also, my impression is that she only got the part due to tom’s connections rather than actual merit.

Isn’t it a bit premature to talk about ticket sales when the show doesn’t open for a month and there have been no previews yet?! Typical scrutiny when it comes to anything related to TomKat.

The presumptive Republican nominee, though, may have some wiggle room in explaining why he couldn’t immediately provide an answer when asked by Politico how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, own. Sen. McCain himself does not own any of the properties. They’re all owned by Cindy McCain, her dependent children and the trusts and companies they control.
The reality is that Barack Obama purchased his million-dollar mansion in a shady deal involving a convicted felon, and it raises questions about his ethics and judgment.

I loves it. I’ve been waiting all summer for Katie to flop on Broadway. Too funny, I saw Nicole Kidman when she did a play called “The Blue Room” on Broadway when she was married to the alien Cruise and she was brilliant in the play. So Katie’s evetual failure is all the more sweet.
