A rep confirms that the ambiguous heartthrob welcomed twin boys via a surrogate!
“The children, delivered via gestational surrogacy, are healthy and already under Ricky’s full-time care,†a statement from the new father’s rep read.
Ricky is excited about the births and is taking a break from shaking his bon-bon to be a dad.
“Ricky is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children.â€

Ehm, what? So he is a single parent to twins via a surrogate mother? Since he has no girlfriend or wife or baby mamma, what does the term “surrogate” mean here? Surrogate for his not existing womb or what? The more I think about the concept, the more strange the choice of terms become.
The idea of having children naturally must be a scary one for Ricky since he made his rep specifically say that there was no more sex involved then Ricky wanking into a glas container. A statement that Ricky became a father and plans to raise the children alone would have done quite nicely.

I’m confused. I didn’t know this was even in the works. What was the choice to have it now without a girlfriend/wife or male companion? Is he gay? I have no idea and don’t care personally. I think he himself will make a great dad and seems very caring with good intentions. But, kids need a mother too. Hopefully they will have a consistent female presence in some capacity in their lives. I would think the same way if it were a single woman, to have a positive male presence too.

I may be minority, but I think it is so sweet he’s a dad. I know he really wanted to become one, so I think it’s great. Good for him!
I believe that maybe he went the surrogate route so that he can legally have his own flesh and blood with out any baby mama drama. I know sometimes its hard for single men to adopt….. and whether he is gay or not, maybe he is trying to keep that part of his life private.
It’s his right to have kids if he wants them, I suppose, but ideally kids should have both a mom and a dad. Each gender imparts what the other can’t. Still, a baby wanted is better than one who isn’t.

Well I’m thinking that they used his sperm and the surrogate’s egg. Any time I’ve seen Ricky in an interview he seems like just the nicest guy and I think he would be a really good father. It’s kind of a difficult situation when a baby is brought into the world without ever getting the chance to know one of it’s natural parents, but I guess that happens with a lot of couples these days anyway when couples split. Has Ricky ever actually come out as gay or is it still kind of speculation? I think it’s fairly obvious now anyway, but I really respect the way he’s always kept his private life out of the media. Even when he was a massive star nobody really knew anything about him. That can’t have been too easy.

Congrats to Ricky! I am a gay single male with a child via surrogacy. To each his/her own. It’s not for everyone but neither is parenthood.
