Ever since she kicked Justin Long (the Mac guy) to the curb, it seemed like Drew Barrymore went into hiding. No red carpet events. No nights out with BFF Cameron Diaz. Heck, we can’t even remember the last time we saw one of her Covergirl ads.
But the 33-year-old actress finally reemerged yesterday on the set of Whip It in Birch Run Township, Michigan.
The movie, which costars Ellen Page and Juliette Lewis, began filming in Texas and Southeast Michigan in late July. The Juno actress plays an ex-beauty pageant contestant in a small Texas town who sneaks off to skate in the Austin roller derby league.
After filming a full day of scenes, Drew reportedly met with fans and a growing crowd of onlookers, signing autographs and graciously apologizing for not saying hello earlier as she had “been working very hard today.”
The $10 million production marks Drew’s directorial debut.

She looks creepy in the main photo. Almost like one of those old crazy hollywood actresses.
I think it is a good idea that she takes some time off of men and pours herself into work. She will be back with another quirky guy sooner than later.
I agree Alison…No need to get right back in scene so soon. But why do people give her money to make movies?
33 ???? Hard living,looks more like 43.
Another talentless actress benefitting from nepotism.
She just looks stressed. It’s a big deal when you’re directing your first film and on a shoestring too.
She’s probably not getting any rest.
I think she’s beautiful.
I’m looking forward to seeing this…there’s a pretty awesome cast in this. I bet it’ll be great.
