DON’T MESS WITH LIBERALS AND THEIR SONGS

Many muscians have objected to their songs being used in political campaigns, but Jackson Browne is suing over it.

The singer-songwriter was in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles yesterday accusing John McCain and the Ohio and national Republican committees of using his song Running on Empty without his permission.

The lifelong liberal is not only concerned about copyright infringement, but that people will think he’s endorsing McCain.

He’s seeking more than $75 000 in damages.

    25 Reasons You Might Be a Liberal - -

With apologies to Jeff Foxworthy, you just might be a liberal if…

    * You’re sure the Constitution explicitly guarantees the right to abortion and gay marriage, but not the right to own a handgun.

    * You think Dan Quayle is the dumbest Vice-President we ever had because he believed a flash card that misspelled “potato,” but think Obama is a genius despite the fact he believes we have more than 57 states.

    * You’d be more upset about your favorite candidate being endorsed by the NRA than the Communist Party.

    * You think the same criminals who use guns in the commission of a crime will just hand them over to comply with the law if guns are made illegal.

    * You know that 86% of all income taxes are paid by the top 25% of income earners and you still feel that the rich “aren’t paying their fair share of the taxes.”

    * You put a higher priority on oil pipelines possibly inconveniencing a few caribou than you do on lowering the price of gas for everyone in the country by drilling ANWR.

    * You’re worried that Osama Bin Laden might not get a fair trial if we capture him, but want George Bush thrown in prison for being too zealous in protecting us from Al-Qaeda.

    * You get infuriated when you hear about the CEO of a Fortune 500 company making tens of millions of dollars, but don’t see a problem with an actor, basketball player, or trial lawyer making the same amount.

    * You’re constantly seeing subtle, coded racism in campaign ads, but see nothing racist about blacks being promoted over more qualified white applicants because of Affirmative Action.

    * You think it’s obscene that oil companies are allowed to make 8.3 cents per gallon in profit with gas prices this high, but would never suggest cutting the 13 cents per gallon they pay on taxes to reduce the price of gas.

    * You think George Bush is a chickenhawk because he wanted to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan despite the fact that he only served in the National Guard, but you don’t think the same about Barack Obama, who has never served in the military and probably couldn’t find either country on a map without help.

    * You think protesting outside of abortion clinics is extremism and should be illegal, but carrying around giant puppet heads while wearing a t-shirt that compares Bush to Hitler is just exercising your First Amendment rights.

    * You think the case for global warming is proven without a shadow of a doubt, but that we need another century or two worth of evidence to figure out if capitalism and free markets work better than socialism.

    * You believe the best way to fix the government screwing something up in the market is with…drumroll, please…more government intervention.

    * You think the first thing we should have done when Russia invaded Georgia was to take the matter to the United Nations, where Russia sits on the UN Security Council.

    * You spend your days criticizing the use of private jets, SUVS, and luxurious houses that consume enormous amounts of resources and then ride in an SUV to the airport, get on your private plane, and fly home to your luxurious house.

    * You have more nice things to say about countries like Cuba and France than you do about your own country.

    * You think the war in Iraq is unwinnable, but victory in the war on poverty is going to happen any day now if we can just get the Democrats back in charge.

    * You won’t even support English as our national language, but can’t seem to understand why people worry about tens of millions of illegal aliens changing our culture.

    * You think censorship is absolutely wrong; except when it’s applied to conservatives on college campuses or on talk radio via the fairness doctrine.

    * You get more upset about an American soldier accidentally killing a civilian than you do about a terrorist deliberately blowing up a school bus full of kids.

    * You think Fox News is hopelessly biased to the right, but MSNBC, CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS call it right down the middle.

    * You think the real hero of the Cold War was Mikhail Gorbachev.

    * You couldn’t care less about what Americans in states like Kansas or Virginia think of you, but you would be greatly upset if a Frenchman gave you a dirty look because you’re an American.

    * You think kids in public schools should have to watch Earth in the Balance and read Heather Has Two Mommies, but no piece of literature with the word “Jesus” on it should be allowed within a hundred yards of a school.

i don’t blame this guy. whatever. and he’s a good musician.
but yeaaaaa sure. repubs are the thiefs…
that’s why they wanna take as much of my income as possible and talk about ‘wealth redistribution’.
that’s why they can take over any private property for ‘public utilitarianism.’
and it’s why they want felons and illegals to get voting rights! (as many as 80,000 illegals voted for obama’s state senate run…no matter because he strong-armed alice palmer right off the ballot—cuz he loves a runoff you know)
oops did i say those were repub stances?!

Buh-bye Bush and fuck off McCain. How can a crazy 98-year old dumbass with a drug-addict wife lead our country? As for you Repugnicans, how are you enjoying the war, the foreclosures, the high gas prices, the low dollar, and the high inflation? Bunch of dumbfucks all of you.

    Marline,
    Your a hateful liberal.
You spew vomit of lies, and need to wash your mouth out with soap.
    1) Foreclosures - How is it Busys fault that dumb people got something more then what they can afford?
    2) I would rather have someone that is ready to protect us, me, and mine instead of being a push over.
    3) Its the Dems on the high gas prices, they keep and wont vote on drilling in the USA.
    4) Inflation, happens. If Union workers didnt demand so much money for no work, it wouldnt have to trickle down……….Oh wait! That all goes back to NAFTA and Clinton. (ha!)

When Nafta was signed by Clinton (Dem), that is when it hurt America.
    The jobs left.
    Clintons Fault, Not Bush.
People started to lose homes, cars, etc.
    Clintons Fault, Not bush.
The quality of the things from overseas, and Mexico, has completly fallen to the wayward.
Clinton hurt us so much with just this one bill, and none of you see it, let alone will research it.
But yet, it is Bush’s fault somehow.
    Goes to show your intelligence.

Btw, I’m an independent and vote right person for the job not right party for the job. The repugs had the ultimate chance and blew it so get out of the way. Repug Pres-Congress-Senate…………..Remember that?!

The ultimate opportunity to perfect and fix and recreate the American dream; the America our forefathers laid the plans for……….All three governing bodies in the hands of the REAL Americans….

Yeah right, they made America something alright. They made us hated, poorer, owned by China, dissed by Russia, laughed at by Al Quada, begging for oil and begging countries not to pull troops out of a country they invaded…………McCain’s words this week “Countries don’t invade other countries in the 21st century.” LOL! oh, ok pop’s.

Godspeed to Obama in putting it back together again.

When Obama gives his stadium acceptance speech at the Democratic convention, it will be the night of the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. You can count on breathless reporters waxing dreamy about Dr. King’s vision fulfilled that historic night. However, not all African Americans agree. “Barack Obama is directly contrary to many positions and beliefs of Martin Luther King, Jr.,” “Obama is trying to make African Americans believe he is the reality of the Dream come true, but he’s not. It’s a nightmare.”
Dr. Alveda King, daughter of MLK’s younger brother, the late slain civil rights activist Rev. A.D. King, says, “Senator Obama’s answer to the ills of society, of higher government spending, weaker national defense, continued tax dollars to Planned Parenthood, and support of gay marriage, are diametrically opposed to everything African Americans truly believe and an anathema to the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”
“In the shadow of the famous ‘I Have a Dream’ speech by my uncle in 1963, as Barack Obama makes his speech in 2008, how can the Dream survive if we murder the children?” asks Dr. King concerning the unborn. “Life was very precious to my uncle and life today is precious.”
Our best interests as Black Americans,” Owens says, “…lie in a new direction that reflects our core beliefs and values, not merely a resemblance of someone we look like.”

Again quoting her uncle, King says, “‘there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because it is right.’” She passionately adds, “This is not the time to be silent; this is not the time to give Barack Obama a free pass! There is too much at stake.”
