Meet the orphan whom Malawian officials say Madonna is “on the very cusp†of adopting.
Madge originally scrapped her year-long battle for three-year-old Mercy James just four months ago as her marriage to Guy Ritchie hit the rocks. But officials yesterday confirmed the star has resumed her adoption bid — which pals say proves their marriage is “back on track.â€
Says Malawian adoption minister Penstone Kilembe: “Madonna’s representatives have been visiting the girl. The adoption is now advanced — all the government is waiting for is Madonna to forward the petition of adoption formalities. Then Mercy will be able to leave the country for a new life.â€

She is so lonely obviously and so not wanted by the music world any longer that she is adopting to stay relevent. Lucky child though.
I grew up as the biggest Madonna fan and I have no issues with her adoption of another child. The only thing is, I think she should just concentrate on motherhood and being a wife. The whole music is just not relevent anymore sad as it may be.
I agree Alison…she was an amazing artist but I think at her age, she just looks silly trying to appear 20 years youunger.
Hey if she wants to adopt a hundred kids she should be able to and not get any flack for it. She is not hurting anyone and she is helping a child change their world. Good for her.

I wouldn’t mind being adopted by Madonna. My future would be very rosy indeed. I think it’s nice that she’s getting a little girl from Malawi, a little sister for David. Of course who knows if this is really true but just tabloid gossip……
By the time the kid is in high school Madonna will be what ? 75 or so??? Looking back over her life and career I just think there is something wrong about her; like maybe she’s a little nuts or something….

Me and timberwolf, why is Madonna a bad mother? I don’t get it. Her children are well protected, grow up close to her mother and have a stable family life. Madonna has no trouble with drugs, is not sleeping around and tries her very best for the sake f her children. Her adoption of David put Malawi on the map, don’t tell me you ever heard from that country before, so that was not a bad idea from Madge. What else can she do?

Miss Janet, not sleeping around she was pregnant by two different men before she got married, she is half naked in all of her vides and she acts like a whore! What is that teaching her daughter. Come on!!!
And? I mean, she has not married Lourdes father, but that was a relationship and not sleeping around and he is in his daughters life, a continuing presence. And she married Roccos father, has been with him for 10 years now. Compared to Hollywood standart, she is a decent person once you get over her image.
She wasnt in a relationship with Lourdes father, he was a sperm doner for the girl, second, she has been sleeping round with men the whole time, she is a whore!
i remember that she slept around in New York at the start of her carreer to get the gigs she wanted, but that were the early 80’s and everyone was having sex all the time. But - Lourdes father and her are still friendly and civil with each other, Lourdes and Rocco both spent time with him on a regular basis. Not bad for a sperm donor.

I think this is a terrible idea. Her life is in a shambles at the moment and bringing another child into that is just wrong. She needs to wait and see what happens with her marriage before she makes any huge decisions like this.
