Political philanderer John Edwards’ has released a statement regarding his affair with Rielle Hunter.:
In 2006, I made a serious error in judgment and conducted myself in a way that was disloyal to my family and to my core beliefs. I recognized my mistake and I told my wife that I had a liaison with another woman, and I asked for her forgiveness. Although I was honest in every painful detail with my family, I did not tell the public. When a supermarket tabloid told a version of the story, I used the fact that the story contained many falsities to deny it. But being 99 percent honest is no longer enough.I was and am ashamed of my conduct and choices, and I had hoped that it would never become public. With my family, I took responsibility for my actions in 2006 and today I take full responsibility publicly. But that misconduct took place for a short period in 2006. It ended then. I am and have been willing to take any test necessary to establish the fact that I am not the father of any baby, and I am truly hopeful that a test will be done so this fact can be definitively established. I only know that the apparent father has said publicly that he is the father of the baby. I also have not been engaged in any activity of any description that requested, agreed to or supported payments of any kind to the woman or to the apparent father of the baby.
It is inadequate to say to the people who believed in me that I am sorry, as it is inadequate to say to the people who love me that I am sorry. In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up — feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself. I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help.
I have given a complete interview on this matter and having done so, will have nothing more to say.

I am so disappointed right now. I can’t say enough I really thought he was a decent person. I see him completely differently now, especially with his repeated denials. To think he thought he could get away with this? Was it worth it? Is there not anyone who is a decent person in Washington? I also agree to about the Russia/Georgia thing. For many people it is…even bombing clinics, killing doctors, or the mothers… and keeping women from deciding on her situation, and that is supposed to be not cruel (?!). I do have serious issues with the cruelty of family abuse where obviously those kids were better never seeing the light of human kind. SEXUAL matters such as reproduction, and in THIS CASE- the Edwards affair- where the people involved have settled their matters should be discussed as a private matter. This country is extremely obsessed with the private life of people to the point of becoming “talibanic” extremist religious views and not even realizing it: there is a total lack of awareness on the PRIVATE AND THE PUBLIC that make political issues.

THE DEVIL: I disagree with you about what is private and what it public. You see, you and I look at things very differently. I think abortion involves 2 people, a mother and child, and you obviously believe it involves only the mother. Therefore, it is the responsibility of someone who gives a damn about the child to say it is not ok to suck it’s brains out. We could argue from now until eternity that it is/isn’t a woman’s right to do that to a baby, and obviously we will not agree. But I chose to talk about abortion becasue I have seen it tear apart many people’s lives, not to mention the babies involved. And I also disagree that it is an issue that a person with “barely a highschool education” would talk about.
In general, people need to take responsibility for their choices. It is more than convenient to blame the government for everything. It’s always the system that takes the blame for holding people down or not giving them enough. My sister teaches in an inner-city school. They have adequate resources with up to date curriculum. However, the attendance rate is poor, parent participation virtually non-existant (few to no parents show for parent/teacher meetings) and there are so many behavioral problems both inside the classroom and out. So, let’s blame the government…for what…not giving them more money? Shouldn’t we hold the parents accountable? According to you no. Her school also has health classes that teach pregnancy/std prevention not abstinence, yet they have a high teen pregnancy rate. Again, the governments fault? Let’s lay blame where blame is due. Being in the education system myself, I have seen firsthand how the very expensive No Child Left Behind Act has fallen way short especially on the state level. Government isn’t perfect, yet I refuse to lay the blame of all the current problems on it. Look at the economy and the mortgage situation. I personally know 3 people who took out mortgages they could not afford. It was no secret they couldn’t afford it, and now two are struggling and one foreclosed. I am looking at the forest, not just one tree and I believe the government can do their best to help people, but in the end, it is the people who have a hell of a lot of control over their lives.

I just watched the interview with John Edwards. He came across as a liar and a sleaze. It is very upsetting to see him as this other person. It’s not so much he had the affair which is bad enough it’s the lengths he went to keep it secret. Meeting with her in a HOTEL room to keep it a secret from the public. When he was asked about someone from his staff giving her like $15,000 a month and Edwards knew nothing of it. Edwards continually saying “the source” of the magazines. He said he called his wife the next day to tell her he met the woman in the hotel recently. Yea, probably because the Inquirer reporters confronted him and he knew this was coming out. Unbelievable. He just seems like a complete sleeze and liar now.
What could we expect from an ambulance chaser that made a fortune as a TRIAL LAWYER.
