Well, now Betty is defending herself and the rest of the Golden Girls. “We were with Estelle when it mattered,” Betty tells Entertainment Tonight. “I didn’t go to her funeral and Paul, her wonderful caretaker, knew I wasn’t going to her funeral.”
She adds, “Funerals are about [journalism] … who was there and who wasn’t? That’s not about Estelle. We adored her. To tell you the truth, her passing is tough on us, but it’s a blessing for her. She’s been so ill for so long, she’s in a better place now, wherever she is.”
Heaven, Betty. Heaven.

Very well put Betty! It’s about being there not the funeral.
Thats bullshit!! If you are a friend you go to the funeral. Weak!!!
I love Betty White…
I disagree with post number 2.
All of them where with her before she forgot whom they were. The most important time.
A funeral is nothing but an empty shell.
I am dealing with a parent with this terrible nasty thing…and trust me. I dont want to see and remember them like this! I wish I could be like Betty, but these are my parents, and it sucks ass.

When my grandmother died.. I was so completely heartbroken… I didn’t go to the funeral.. didn’t want a bunch of people telling me “sorry for your loss”.. “she’s in a better place”.. I wanted her THERE with me, hugging me.. telling me she never left. We were very close.. I look EXACTLY like her!
.
My fiance has the same issues with his grandfather.. he still can’t go to his gravesite.. too painful.. he said he will when we get married.. makes me tear up just thinking abou it.
.
Don’t be so obtuse
I disagree…I think it is important to pay your respects. If you are going to be there for the bad stuff you should be there for the finale.
we each grieve in our own way. who’s to dictate what’s right and what’s wrong?
I have nothing of substance to say, but I love love love Betty White! She can do no wrong.
So true post number 7
To each their own.
I personally think it’s really important and respectful to attend someone’s funeral. It’s their last goodbye and a chance to celebrate their life with the other people that loved them. I can understand why she maybe didn’t want to go, I don’t think there was any bad blood between the ladies at all.
