Dwayne Johnson, commonly known by his former wrestling name, “The Rock,” was vacationing in Hawaii with his new girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, over the weekend.
Johnson was formerly married to Dany Johnson, whom he met while they were both attending the University of Miami. Their divorce was finalized just last month.
The action flick hero seems to have wasted little time in moving on, as he seemed quite affectionate with Hashian, sunbathing, snorkeling, and cuddling the day away.
Johnson has stated that the split with his ex “was amicable and that they would spend the rest of their lives together as best friends.”

This is not a new romance for Dwayne Johnson. He has been seeing Lauren Hashian since at least November 2007, if not longer as they met two years ago on the set of the Game Plan, before his wife filed for divorce. It is clear the he was having an affair with this girl whilst still married to Dany. There are pictures of them all over the place. I don’t usually comment on issues but I got literally sick to my stomach when I read and saw this. As a young, beautiful Black woman who found Dwayne’s life and professional history inspiring, I am disappointed once again. I am so tired of famous Black men who totally turn their backs on the Black community and Black women. I even went to his myspace site and he describes his race as “other”. That did not sit well with me at all. I know he is mixed with Somoan ( who are also people of color), but the truth is when a Black person has offspring with a non-Black person, the offspring is Black - period! Please acccept your own and be yourself - and not just when it’s in your favor to be Black! I have seen videos of him with other Black people and he’s calling them “Brother” and acting like a “real brother”. I guess my male friends were right when they said he isn’t a “real Black man”.
Others and I have looked at a couple of pictures of them together and we can’t understand what he sees in her. She does not look very attractive. I guess it’s the same old - same old: They just want something white.

when “the rock” was wrestling his persona was definitely “black-identified”. and he milked it for all it was worth in order to become a wwf/e superstar. as he transitioned from wrestler to actor, he obviously began to distance himself from that part of his heritage. personally, i found it quite interesting that while promoting get smart he appeared on the tonight show with jay leno and listed numerous ethnicities that are used to describe him…except black! funny, considering that’s 50 percent of who he is. in his attempt to become more and more “racially ambigous” maybe he felt that his latina wife was just “too ethnic” for the new dwayne johnson image he was (is) trying to project. hence, his new choice of partner. i truly don’t care what race his girlfriend/groupie is. but i do think he needs to recognize and acknowledge that he is a person of color and show some pride. currently, he has isolated himself from his wrestling fans and now he’s isolating himself from his black fan base.
