YEAH– HE WENT THERE!

Well it seems not everyone is ga-ga over the late Heath Ledger’s performance in the summer blockbuster The Dark Knight.

Check out some excerpts from Los Angeles Times writter Eric P. Lucas dissing the beloved Joker protrayed by Mr. Ledger.

“He’s just a pretty good actor who did away with himself and broke the hearts of his family and friends, and he shouldn’t get an Academy Award to memorialize his death.”

“(His performance) has all the subtlety of a hangover — exactly what I’d expect from someone who headed home every night to a pill party.”

Our thoughts on the criticism? A little too soon perhaps?

It is one thing to give an honest critique on the acting in a movie and another to attack a person personally. This is not a critique on his acting but a personal attack. How exactly does he know that he headed home every night to a “pill party”? That is rude and not acceptable. Honestly since when does critiquing a movie start to become a personal review on what a person does at home. This is so not acceptable.

He DID NOT take his own life! He was perscribed several conflicting medications by two different doctors causing him to pass away. You people should really be ashamed. He was a talented individual and I am sure none of you here including myself could carry a candle to his flame. So grow the fuck up. By the way…how old are some of you people?

This is disgusting. Heath did not “do away with himself”. His death was accidental, and to imply it was suicide is a horrible and dangerous thing to do. Any journalist should know better.

He may not have intentionally killed himself but I don’t doubt that he had a drug addiction and any of you out there that think differently are in massive amounts of denial!!! Yes, blame it on the doctors, that’s a good one, poor Heath had no idea what he was doing at all…Yeah sure. Addiction is a sad thing and it pisses me off when people try to speak about it when they don’t even understand it. He may not have done a fabulous job in the movie but I too don’t believe it deserved a review focusing on his personal life.

Oh please hotbitch, would you describe someone who gets into a car accident as someone who has ‘taken their own life’? What about someone who dies of complications due to diabetes, or someone who has a heart attack? Smoking, driving carelessly, or eating greasy food and a sedentary lifestyle will kill you, and so can taking prescribtion drugs. We’re all going to kick the bucket someday, and in some ways, we’ll contribute to our own demise. But what happened was not Heath’s fault. He wasn’t abusing drugs. The drugs prescribed to him were not meant to be taken together and the interaction killed him.

I don’t care who wins the Oscar, but the previous posters have been correct; this article had nothing to do with Heath’s acting abilities.

Ok. Seriously people. If he was with us today, I would still feel this portrayal of Joker was phenomenal. The only reason everyone is debating this is because he’s not. Stop using his death as an excuse to claim Hollywood is considering giving him an award. It was a stellar movie and Heath did a wonderful job. I’m sick and tired of hearing people blame the hype on his death. This is real, this a young talent we lost, not a pill popping party animal. We’re not talking Amy Winehouse here, we’re talking about a young talented actor who made a mistake. Get off your high horses.

He went OUT OF the states and got more pills from other doctors….HE DIDNT tell any of the doctors what he was taking…Because IF HE DID, 3/4 of the “scripts” would NOT have been filled.
This happens all the time - - EVEN NON celebs do it.

There are still 5 months left in this year, to say that this performance deserves an oscar before all others are out is premature. I totally agree with Lucas’s critique of his portrayal of the Joker. His personal life I don’t want to venture a guess. The state that he left his child in says a lot about his character. He should have made sure his will was updated and made provisions for his child. For that he sucked. It’s typical Hollywood to make deities out of these people. Before he died the owner of this blog was writing crap about his life now he/she is behaving like Lucas shouldn’t speak his mind just because Heath is dead. If they were so incensed the comments they should have been respectful enough to keep it off the blog. However, only the sensational stories that will cause controversy ever appear on the blogs.

You know, I’ve been reading this site (and the comments) for a long time now, and it seems to me that the only people that come here and post are those that are so miserable that they can’t think of anything pleasant to say about anyone else, ever. No matter what the post is, there are ALWAYS tons of people making the most disgusting comments about people that, lets face it, YOU DON’T KNOW! I wouldn’t even try to judge my friends like you people judge total strangers. I didn’t realize there were so many people on this planet that have the rights only an almighty being should possess. I really wish that I was so unbelievably perfect that I could judge strangers for things they may or may not have done in their lives too… if only.

They make fun of celebs because deep down they are miserable with their own lives and it makes them feel better. Its easy to hide behind a computer and pick people apart yet noone knows what you look like or what. Issues you have in your life. How someone can make fun of somebody that drives a benz and lives in a million dollar home is beyond me seems like their life is better than yours. While they are working and making millions ya’ll just keep wasting your life sitting at the computer talking about them. I wonder who is actually laughing?

  40. Devin
    August-1-2008 @ 7:07 pm

Talk about having a life, it’s strange that people on the Internet posting about people not having a life is sort of oxymoronic. There’s a popular phrase which states, “A man is a man as long as his life, but his name last forever.” There are aspects of a persons life that doesn’t disappear after they die. The man live irresponsibly and death doesn’t excuse that, nor, should it reward him for a marginal performance in a movie based on a comic book. You are such idiot, just because someone drives a benz or lives in a multi-million dollar home does not exempt them from ridicule if they live recklessly. Your implying that Paris Hilton should not be made fun of because she drives an expensive car and lives in expensive homes.

  41. Stephi
    August-1-2008 @ 7:10 pm

Well I do agree with the fact that he shouldn’t get an Oscar just because he has died and everyone thinks it would be ‘nice’ if he got it. He wouldn’t want to win that way, he would want to win because he was a fantastic actor. I don’t agree with the second paragraph though, I thought Heath played the Joker to perfection. Eveyrone I’ve talked to about it feels the same way. I think the comment about drugs though is completely uncalled for and not fair.

  42. LAURIE SMITH
    August-1-2008 @ 7:17 pm

Every time they talk about who should be the next oscar.. Heath is the only one in the Dark Horizon

are the ones that pick the nominees…

Whatever, sam. How do even begin to compare a car accident or heart attack with an OD?!?!?!!? Is there ANY logic to that whatsoever? NO. That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. You sound like a naive teenager. Let me clue you in on a little something; car accidents/heart attacks/the other crap you mentioned can all occur through no fault of the individual. An OD, however, is something you walk your ass right into.

Now let’s see; he was found with the following Rx drugs in his system: OxyContin, Hydrocodone, Valium, Xanax, Restoril and Unisom. I don’t care how many doctors prescribed the drugs the point is he took them at the SAME TIME. “The drugs prescribed to him were not meant to be taken together and the interaction killed him.” NO SHIT!!! Any reasonable person, or child even, knows you don’t take 6 drugs at once. And don’t act like you don’t remember the video of him doing coke at a party a couple years ago. So give me a fucking break already. Face it; he was a drug ABUSER. What don’t you get about that?????

  44. Mary
    August-1-2008 @ 8:06 pm

I can’t believe people will say these things about one of the best actors that has ever walked the earth. He is by far the best actor of our generation. He should have gotten an Oscar for his role in Brokeback because he went out of his way as a person and an actor to fulfill a character that many other actors today would never have done. They take on these superficial roles but no Heath! That role had depth and character to it and he pulled it off with the best ability of any person.

  45. Mary
    August-1-2008 @ 8:15 pm

Hotbi*ch you are wrong! And you need to get a grip on reality here. Sometimes people have no way out and our society and these ‘Doctors’ fill your head with silly things like you NEED these drugs to function. I think all he needed was a hug. Maybe turning to the Lord could have saved him.

I went into the movie expecting he would be overrated, but I did think he was good. Part of the reason is because Jack Nicholson’s performance was SO overrated. He was way too hammy in the role - not scary, just over the top. Ledger doesn’t deserve praise for overdosing, but he got the Joker right. (This from a former Batman comic geek).

    My response to LUCAS himself:

Heath Ledger was simply human. I think that just because he was in a couple extremely marketable box office hits in Hollywood, people tend to forget that he was simply a troubled soul trecking through life doing a job that he was actually good at. His job just happened to be making movies, leaving him open for scrutiny and mind-less, spine-less critism. Was he a pill popper? Did he commit suicide? Was he struggling with life so much that he sought help from over the counter, doctor prescribed drugs that he managed to accidentally mix and die with? No one really knows, except Heath and God, itself. When common-folk such as Senor Lucas start spouting off negatively about someone that, regardless of how he died or who’s intent it was to have his life ended, is without merit and is just plain lacking in the sac area. Where are you balls Mr. Lucas? Are you that angry that you would say something so hurtful about the death of someone , you probably jerked off to when watching “Broke Back Mountain” over & over again, that you feel the need to publicly bash him in the press even after he’s gone? And then to criticize his performance in the last film he finished and say he doesnt deserve an Oscar because he “ended his life”, who are you to assume what he “deserves” anyway? He isnt here on this pathetic planet to enjoy it anyway and when did someone crown you the “ALL MIGHTY” and allow you the gift of telling people, and the deceased no less, what they are deserving of? I think, Senor Lucas, that I will take that crown off your mis-shaped head due to lack of brain matter, and place it on my own…since its so easy to do this anyway, and pass judgement on what you deserve: how about…in the words of Ben Stiller in “HAPPY GILMORE”, “how’s about a nice warm glass of SHUT THE HELL UP!”…nothing more, nothing less. I bet it will burn on the way down and and tear little cuts in your anus on the way out. Then, and only then, will you have received, what you, my dear poor excuse for a journalist, what you deserve for writing that little peanut-filled poopy morsel of a review of Heath Ledger.

As for Heath, Rest in Peace Mother Fucker, you’re in a much better place than the rest of us assholes. :)
