I’m torn. While I want to boycott because of Travolta, I really want John Waters to make a ton of dough off this.
It is a pretty well known fact that John Travolta has been attempting to leave Scientology for some time now.
They do something, I think its called auditing, where they have you tell them your deepest and darkest secrets- for your benefit of course. During these sessions, Travolta revealed his many gay experiences. Now the “church” is threatening him with what they know about him so he cannot leave.

In the Rikki Lake movie the mom was played by a big ole guy but she was married to Mr. Turnblatt, the character isn’t gay.

That “big ole guy” in the movie was none other than the fabulous and much-missed Divine.
If you protest John Travolta’s role in this play, protest it based on the fact that he is not, nor will he ever be, woman enough to fill Divine’s shoes. A true drag queen loves and celebrates women, and attempts to become the ultimate, glamorous female. Think Ru Paul, for example. John Travolta attempts are an insult–he looks ugly and cheap.
