Looking a little rough around the edges, a bearded Daniel Radcliffe celebrated his birthday today by dining with his family and girlfriend, Laura O’Toole, at The Wolseley in London.
The casually dressed boy wizard turned 19 years old today.
This birthday guy has become widely recognized (and wealthy!) playing Harry Potter, but wary of being typecast, he’s since taken on more adult roles (i.e. his very nude role in the revival of Equus.) The young thespian will next portray late photojournalist Dan Eldon in the biopic Journey.

The Wolseley is nice. I dined there a few years back with friends and spotted Nigella Lawson and hubby Charles Saatchi a few booths away. She was tearing through her steak big time! It’s a great venue for spotting British celebs.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAN! To each his (or her) own, of course, but personally, I consider Dan sexy as hell! As Jen and Sarah said, the stubble is for his Broadway debut bringing Equus to the States. He did a fabulous job with it in London and I can’t wait to see it again in New York!
Daniel is a very handsome boy. Most celebrities look horrible when they don’t have makeup all over them and a lot of photoshop, but this young man looks great, just a little tired and preparing his beard for Equus.
I like what he wears, I like the fact that having so much money hasn’t made him want to use famous designer clothes or expensive things.
I’m amazed he has grown up so well. He is like the most famous young actor in the world, and what does he do for his birthday? Dinner with his family and girlfriend, that’s wonderful. You know Lindsay, Paris… they would have done a big ostentatious party, which even some of Dan’s castmates in HP have done to their birthdays, like Emma Watson and Rupert Grint (with a scaldal added).
So I’m happy to see that growing up being famous and rich is not the reason some people turn to be… well, you know, like Britney, they can choose the good road too.
