Joined by his wife Michelle and their daughters, 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha, the US presidential candidate flashes his million dollar smile on the upcoming cover of People magazine, on sale Friday.
Here are some highlights from the interview:
- Malia and Sasha get allowances of $1 a week for doing their chores — but dad often falls behind in paying them- The girls have rules to follow such as making their beds, setting their own alarm clocks, keeping the playroom toy closet clean and lights out at 8:30 p.m.
- Obama on the girls’ feelings regarding his candidacy: “They have a wonderful life in Chicago. So I’m sure there’s a part of them that won’t be heartbroken if things don’t work out.”

My better half was born in Germany and lived there for about 12 years before moving to the states. Though we visit once a year, as he still has family there.
He/I honestly state there is much that America could learn from Germany. Like main thing BEER. (grins) and of course the health care…..and how they even take “care of the homeless” a hell of alot better then America does.

I began the year as a staunch Obama supporter, but the more I researched him and listened to him, the more he soured me on himself. He’s too weak, has no conviction in his decisions, and his aloof attitude towards anything that isn’t ‘Obama’ is a major turn off. The guy just isn’t a leader, as much as I might have wanted him to be, he just isn’t. McCain on the other hand, is turning out to be a man with outstanding leadership qualities, bases his decisions on wisdom and experience, and is more interested in what’s best for the country than looking good for reporters. These are leadership qualities. He may not be the best choice for president, but if I must choose between the two I’m leaning towards McCain. Obama continually sours me with his circle talk, his inability to answer questions directly, and his refusal to outline his “change” he so often speaks of.
Americans who want to vote for Obama because of his EMPTY promises of “Change” and “Hope” better wake up. Stop drinking the Kool-aid people and look back in history - Hitler promised “Change” as well and look where that took Germany…The only promise I can see Mr. Junior Senator Obama keeping so far is the ability to consistantly “Change his mind” on the major issues. Talk about radical - Obama’s cabinet will consist of his good friends: Reverand Wright; Weather Man Aires; Loan shark Rizzo - I wouldn’t want be associated with this group so the question is “WHY IS OBAMA?” .
