Her career may finally be on an upswing, but Britney Spears’ charitable foundation is not doing as well. In fact, it has a deficit of nearly $200 000.

The Britney Spears Foundation’s Form 900 tax filing has just arrived, and it shows that Miss Spears came up short $195 445 for the year 2006. Total revenue was $148 614. But total expenses came to $344 063.

Among the expenses were two salaries that each came to a little less than $40 000. One employee is Corina O. Biggar, who’s run Britney’s foundation from her home in Massachusetts. The other is listed as John McMahon, a former New York City cop.

Part of the funds went to Britney’s summer camp, which doesn’t seem to be in business any more.

I remember seeing something on tv about her foundation years ago, and it seemed like a really good idea. The kids got to work with leading dance and voice coaches and put on a little show at the end of the camp that Britney would go along to watch. Too bad she hasn’t kept it up, but I guess she’s been working on her own personal charity lately.
