Glowing in her summer white eyelet dress, Ashanti was in Manhattan today to help Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi launch a new tourism campaign urging New York City tourists and anyone else in the area to come see “The Island Next Door.” Nassau County is east of the city and part of the Long Island area. Ashanti is a native of Glen Cove in Nassau County.
“It was amazing to be asked and I wanted to give something back to the community,” said Ashanti, who sang at Suozzi’s two inaugurals as mayor of Glen Cove and at his first county executive inaugural in 2002.
If you listen carefully, you can actually hear Ashanti’s once rising star plummet.

She hasn’t done anything that successful for years has she? Was her last songs back in 2003 when she was popular? Her dress is nice but her makeup looks horrible here…too thick and the white eyes and red lips make her look clown-like.

I guess she is just trying to stay relevant but she does not look good here. I agree with Stephi about the makeup overload.
